I’ve got to learn not to take an evening off with this party; once again, I spent a few hours filling my belly with ale, and I missed all the fun!
vote KellyCriterion
I think **Kelly **recognized that he was going to go down Today (the only competing bandwagon was on Askthepizzaguy, and while it started off strong, it seemed to have run its course by yesterday afternoon). He knew that a plain ol’ Vanilla claim was unlikely to cause many people to move their votes, so he tried a different tactic that he hoped would imply a “Scum wouldn’t do this” sort of vibe.
I’m intrigued by the number of people have actually moved their votes off of **Kelly **recently. This would seem to be counter to the idea that everyone will pile on a ‘sure thing’ bandwagon in order to either level up or to hide the fact that they are Vanilla. This is not to say that everyone should be piling votes on just because they can, just that these vote changes in particular don’t on the whole make a lot of sense to me.
I don’t have **MHaye **on my player list. I have:
Normal Phase
Tom Scud/USCDiver
Askthepizzaguy
Inner Stickler
Koldanar
Pedescribe
Mental Guy
LightFoot
TexCat
Red Skeezix
Romanic
Septimus
Choie
KellyCriterion
Gnarlycharlie
SilverJan
special ed
ShadowFacts
Stanislaus
Scathach
Suburban Plankton
Are there plans to sub out LightFoot? She hasn’t made a single post since asking to be added to the sub list; it looks like she doesn’t know she’s playing.
Power was out at home last night, so I’m busy reviewing what’s going on.
On the first pass: Kelly is floundering. Normally I would agree that that kind of floundering is more indicative of Town than Scum. However, I’ve seen this kind of play from Kelly before (Cecil Pond), where IIRC he was scum (need to verify this). I haven’t decided what I think is going on. I may switch my vote. I need to digest, and see if anything seems more striking.
And I’m intrigued by this comment. Can you be more specific about why the vote changes don’t make sense to you? Do you find them suspicious in some way, or just intriguing?
I Just noticed that I was sent a character. (I thought I was still a reserve sub)I’ve been reading along but missed that I had a notification ( I don’t usually sign in at work) I’ll compose myself ASAP
Alright - I wasn’t aware of games where the Scum were not allowed to discuss during the Day, and I find it odd really.
I don’t agree with your assessment that Kelly’s partners, if he’s scum, would have talked him away from doing the hash-tag - In my experience, scum players often do things without discussing them with their partners first. Perhaps this is slightly different for longer games, as the game I play typically have 24 or 48 hours Day, but still, I find it very possible that a Scum would have acted on his own.
Anyway, I understand what you were saying now. At first, I thought your remark could have been PIS (if the Scums were indeed not able to discuss during the Day), or a poor analysis, since the argument was alien to me. Clearly it is not as bad as I thought since Normal confirmed that some games do use this rule and choie even provided a list where I was able to see that it’s indeed the case.
Silver Jan’s vote on Romanic bugged me, so I decided to use my lunch to do a review. Sorry for the Wall of Quotes, I think it’s easier to see the whole picture this way. Note: votes have been bleached, some quotes have been snipped to stay on topic.
SJ seems to be obsessed with Romanic’s level cap joke right from the beginning. He makes the (to me, obvious) minor joke, SJ asks about it, gnarly explains. One would think that would have been the end of it. In fact, it’s dropped for a while while SJ votes for **Normal Phase **(bad OMGUS vote), then retracts that, realizing it’s a bad vote. Then she gets into this weird “should I ask this question” exchange, culminating in a repeat question to Romanic about the level cap thing. Normal Phase explains that this is just a joke, SJ seems to accept this and move on, thanks NP for the explanation. Then there is a vote on KellyCriterion, because “after receiving a vote s/he asked about handshakes. If that had been me I would have jumped up and down defending myself (check the Giraffe boards, I was in tears cos I was called scum{silly too}).” So… because KellyCriterion is not reacting as SJ would, despite the fact that said reaction is “silly,” she puts a vote on? Later, she gets nervous about the vote, because Kelly is now “doing almost the same thing I have done in a different game, assuming other VT’s would understand him.” So, she unvotes and… goes back to vote for Romanic on the level cap thing.
I’m trying to figure out if this is new player adjusting to the game or nervous scum flitting about trying to land a vote somewhere without taking heat for it (or both). (The vote on Normal Phase for NP saying SJ “pinged” her seems particularly high-strung, later retraction aside). It’s not good Town play, that I am certain of. Since this is not her first game, I am not inclined to give her a newbie pass. Let’s see where this takes us:
