Read all about it here. Yes, it’s the CIA, along with MI5 et al.

Never heard of that source. What’s their credibility?
It’s fighting fake news with fake news.
I gave up after he declared that the CIA supported Hillary because she would remove several restrictions on how to deal with ISIS and the Syria situation. When Trump actually is willing to declare war.
It appears to be the new site for and co-founded by Glenn Greenwald, a respected reporter specializing in whistle-blowing ( Snowden etc. ) who started off against Bush II, and grew lefter as the Democrats moved righter. He wrote for the Guardian and previously Salon.
His background is Jewish and in a same-sex marriage. He doesn’t like droning or John O. Brennan, Bush and Obama’s anti-terror chief. He is usually right.
Back in July of last year. Since the election and Putin’s settlement in Syria, Trump would be a bit late to the party now.
I was referring more to ISIS. Of curse since the Syrian dictator is against ISIS they will declare all the ones opposed to the regime to be ISIS followers. It follows that Trump will join that fight and declare victory anyhow. Never mind that a lot of the ones we helped were fighting against ISIS
He has wanted to use nukes to retaliate for terrorist attacks. He’ll get one going somehow.
What’s the point of having a newly strong military if you don’t use it?
I’ve not read Glenn Greenwald’s books but have frequently heard him on various news shows and read some of his columns. He has always struck me as a sober minded and legit journalist. Much as I loath Trump, I’m hard pressed to disagree with Glenn’s analysis and conclusions in the article linked by the OP.
Many years ago, Greenwald was a wonderful voice on the Iraq war, torture, the security state, eroding civil liberties, and so on. Later he would occasionally appear on talking head shows, but was mostly known to anti-war leftists and libertarians. As someone who read him even before he went to Salon, watching him blow up to worldwide celebrity during the big leak story was surreal. Is that how hipsters feel all the time?
I wouldn’t expect the deep state to be big Trump fans, but if all the Russian CTs are just a big misunderstanding then Trump could disprove it fairly easily by releasing his tax returns, confirming he’ll keep the Russian sanctions in place, or even just mildly criticizing Putin.
Perhaps a way can be found to pretend that the sanctions have not been lifted but Exxon can still proceed with its Russia deal. With Trump as President and a…ah…sympathetic ear at the State Department, something can be worked out. A nudge, a wink, couple bucks spread around. After all, we are talking about job creators here!
Possibly I skimmed too quickly, but it didn’t look too me like this was anything more than an op-ed based on the recent GoldenGate nonsense.
One would hope that the CIA could do better than convincing CNN to release a summary of a report that’s been floating around for several months, in easy access of hundreds of people, and which contains nothing but information that had failed to prove out in any way.
If you’re taking that and a couple of endorsements as your proof of “Rule by the Deep State”, and the Deep State lost the election, then I’m not really all that concerned about the might of the Deep State.
As I said in a Pit thread:
On the other hand, John O. Brennan will soon be out of a job.
