There’s a YouTuber, Ryan HD, who presents series of often brilliant deep thoughts — kind of a combination of Jack Handey, Mitch Hedberg, and Stephen Wright. Think of dorm-room bull sessions. A few are silly, many are funny, and quite a few will really give you pause (like, “The number of people alive who are older than you will never increase”).
There are maybe a dozen videos — maybe start with the compilation below. (Note he is endearingly self-deprecating — alternating between intoning thoughts, and pleading with himself to please stop).
I thought this belonged in this forum, not Cafe Society, because I’m not interested in Doper reactions to Ryan HD, but rather to any of the observations themselves. (Besides, I doing he came up with many of them himself).
I’ll just mention a couple more, to give you the flavor:
“You’re always only two minutes from death, but each breath is a reset.”
“Taxes are your paid subscription to live in a country. Childhood is the free trial.”
“Pi is what it sounds like, only backwards” [That is, 3.14 in mirror resembles the word “PIE”]
Okay, the last one is more akin to the Dennis Hopper character in Apocalypse Now noting that “if is the middle word of life.” Most of Ryan HD’s thoughts are deeper than this. (The others are fun, at least.)
(In initial post, I meant: “Besides, I DOUBT he came up with many of them himself”)
Haven’t watched the vid link yet, but I love the first two of these deep thoughts.
I like the third one too, but I’m glad you explained it, or else I would have been scratching my head trying to figure it out for an unduly long portion of my Friday evening.
