*Deep Thoughts*

~with your hostess, bittersweet.

Yes folks, it’s a lonely Friday night for me, and I’ve been thinking a lot about karma lately. You know, the whole idea of “what goes around, comes around”.

Personally, I’m a firm believer in it, even though I try to do my best but still wind up getting a raw deal on things. Maybe I’ll have a buttload of good karma come my way all at once. (That might make me a little less ‘bitter’ and a lot more ‘sweet’.)

There are some people that don’t believe in it, and live their lives not really taking other people’s feelings into consideration, or thinking about the consequesnces of their actions.

What are your thoughts and feelings about this? C’mon…share.

Sorry…that should have been “consequences”.

mild proselytizing to follow…

there is a ledger… there will be a reckoning. Sometimes it takes longer then we would like… but I feel that we all answer for what we have done good or bad. I personally am glad that in the end God’s grace will be sufficient that I get what He wants me to have and not what I deserve.

oh, by the way… I clicked on your “Hot or Not” link… you Are hot… just wanted to add that.

OMG - at first, I read that “DEEP THROATS”…
(Hmm…maybe the “eek” smiley wasn’t the best choice there…)

Yes, I believe in “goes around comes around” and have seen enough of it to know it really does work…

That said, yes, you ARE hot!!

[Joey T.] so…how you doin’?? [/Joey T.]

I don’t believe in Karma in the immediate sense.

The reason I’m considerate to other people (besides being raised that way) is because the more “nice” I put into the world increases (or seems to increase) the odds of others being nice to me.

By “odds” I mean numerically although I haven’t done the math.

I guess I would compare it to a public park that stays clean because most people who use it want it to be clean and by not littering or even picking up a piece of trash adds to the overall good.

If Karma worked, I’d be rich.

The doctrine of karma can have ill effects when combined with a belief in rebirth. When the fruits of karma are believed to carry over into the next life, those who are born into poor conditions are assumed to have earned those conditions by virtue of their actions in previous lives. The widespread acceptance of this belief leads to an institutionalized caste system with little social mobility.

spl of haxial.com elaborates on this theme here.

well, thanks for the replies (and the compliments ;))!

it’s always nice to hear others’ views on deep stuff like that.

My karma ran over my dogma. Seriously I have seen karma work too many times to dismiss it. and another vote for you, you are a major hottie!.

Unclviny

Wiccans believe–to varying degrees–in a “Law of Threefold Return”. It says that the changes you make in the lives of other, for good or ill, will be returned three times over. Joy begets joy, while pain returns only sorrow.

I don’t believe it in any mystical sense…but I have found my smiles met with smiles everywhere I have gone, and that bringing happiness to others makes me happy as well. Life is not always fair, and we may never get quite as much good as we give, but if we don’t at least try…will there be any good in the world at all?

I have learned in my life that virtue is it’s own reward; it really doesn’t get you anything else.

Ethical and moral behavior can not be practiced for practical reward.

But virtue IS a reward.

I don’t believe in karma. Never have.

I think it’s one of those things people “want” to believe in. Cosmic justice is an attractive idea.

I’ve seen too many good people get trashed and bad people get rewarded to ever think there is any kind of justice in the world.

It’s hard to believe a woman like you could be lonely on a Friday night. Alone by choice, action or, most likely, inaction, yes; lonely, no. I’ve seen a number of your posts, as well as your photos, so, I find it hard to believe there aren’t a dozen (at least) men who’d love to date you. (Hell, I’d be one of them, if it weren’t for that 1,000 mile distance thing.)

But, as far as the point of the OP, I tend to believe in karma as much as any of the mystical stuff. I don’t know whether there’s any “law” at work, or if it’s simply that things tend to even out, over time. But, the net effect is about the same, and it seems to apply to most people and most situations.

Oh, and FWIW, your “Hot or Not” photo, while definitely hot, is not the one I consider the hottest. There are three on your main page I like better.

Yep, Davebear, I agree with you - I especially like the first one at the top of the page…
…and then I followed the modeling link…
34D?? Hubba hubba!

bittersweet, I’m afraid your thread is going to fall victim to your own hotness…

“…old busted hotness, NEW hotness…”
Gives a whole new meaning to that quote…

I agree. I think it was Einstein who is credited with saying; “If we as humans only treat each other with respect out of fear of punishment or the prospect of a reward, then we are a sorry lot indeed.”

I too believe that what goes around comes around. If that be karma, then so be it.

Yes, I agree with the others, you are an attractive woman.

Hey, Dirk! LTNS. Yes, that’s my favorite, too.

[sub]Now, let’s see if she’ll be bitter or sweet, about the hijacking. [/sub]

i sort of believe in karma, in the sense that it’s something that happens to other people. i know a lot of people who have done both good and bad things, and get their comeuppance one way or another.

however, it doesnt seem to affect me at all. i do many good things and get nothing back, and similarly when i piss someone off or something similarly bad, again nothing happens…

Huh?

I’ve already decided, when I get over to the other side, I WANT an appointment with that-which-is-God! turns out ‘the other side’ is a lot like some of those really swanky restaurants, they don’t take reservations, you can’t put your name on the list for an appointment till you’re actually there! Guess it avoids having God’s schedule thrown off by ‘no shows.’ Looking forward to seeing how old the magazines are in THAT waiting room!

This whole deal of “Good stuff happening and earthly rewards coming to folks who are making no effort to be ‘doing good’ in their lives” and, conversely, “Bad crap coming down on people who Are making concerted efforts to be doing ‘good’ in their lives” … it is Just Plain Bad Marketing!
It would be So much easier to ‘sell’ God, if Great stuff, Great health, and Great rewards befell folks who were living a ‘devoted’ life, and Nasty Bad crap befell the creeps! Period!

Say, for example, if there have to be “10-level-hot” babes sitting home bored and alone, they Should be Next Door to My house. Period! Not on the other dang’d side of the continent!!!

opinions expressed are merely one of the many voices in my brain, and may not necessarily be spelled correctly or even coherent. Opinions are in no way intended to sway others from their own belief systems or sweet thoughts of wishing only the best for everyone, even the creeps.
My own belief system is that the whole thing is one huge University curriculum. All one voluntary learning experience. I learn what feeds my spirit, and live That in my life, more and more strongly. Or to quote Dolly Parton, “Find out who you are and do it on purpose!”

I don’t believe in karma, never have.

I believe in luck. Some people get lucky, some people don’t and you can’t do a thing about it.

I do, however, believe that only the individual can control what happens. Things aren’t “reflected” back upon thyself. You can only make what is the best decision to make at the time. You make it YOUR best interest.
