Deer Feet

Hi guys, I’m in need of some help here.

I’ve got a couple of deer feet I’d like to dry. I’ve put them in salt, but I’m a bit short on time. It seems it’ll take at least a month or so, and I only have a week. They’ve been there for some time already, but I don’t think they’ll dry out fast enough. Is there some quick solution, like baking them on low heat for a couple of days, that could work? If I don’t find a solution, I’ll use them as is, then plop them back in the salt afterwards.

Thanks!

Have you asked a taxidermist or a museum?

(I have a small collection of skulls, and got lots of tips on cleaning and bleaching from some nice people who do this professionally.)

LOL - I thought the title said you like to try them as in eat them.
I admit my interest was peaked (sp?).

I thought this was going to be a foot fetish thread…

i’ll sneaker on out of here.

I was thinking more along the lines of “That’s going to be a really big keychain.”

Nope, I’ve just looked around a bit. There’s not much meat below the lowest knee, so it’ll dry out nice. It’s just time I’m short on. It’s probably worth asking, though. Maybe some taxidermist know of a way…

I’m gonna use them as drumsticks for a concert! So yeah, apart from some smell and having to take them out of the salt, it will probably work anyway.

I too thought you wanted to eat them.

There are probably someone out there eating deer feet. Some people eat dishwashers… I think it would be a bit chewy for my tastes.

Check some of these links out. They have tons of tips.
