Deer Season starts tomorrow

Some moron just fired off a large caliber rifle at 9:30 PM.

Is there any reason for this guy to have fired off six rounds in the last half an hour at night?

Only thing I can think of is he just wanted to empty his clip, or possibly he was sighting in his scope but I don’t know why he’d do that at night. In fact, most places around here specify that hunting and discharging your firearm is only legal between sunrise and sunset. He might have been on some well lit private property with a good backstop and target though… maybe. Moron sounds about right though, most likely… pretty inconsiderate in any case.

Opening and closing weekends are notorious around here for bringing out the yahoos who do shit like that. I won’t go hunting by myself on either of those, and was only up this season on closing weekend because I was with four men, and hunting bear. For some reason, we tend to intimidate the yahoos. Can’t imagine why?

Well, the answer seems obvious to me. Beer comes in packages of 6.

At 0 dark:30 the guns in the thicket started the ‘bad day for Bambie’ here on the mountain.

I’ve not heard anything in daylight.
The little store is still a “game check station” or whatever and has a couple dozen Polaroids hanging up of folks and their deer. Glad nobody is shooting them near the house.

I live in a town of about 20,000 people which is in a rural area. Lately, everyone’s been getting really upset at the number of deer in town. (It’s a common sight to see a small group of deer grazing next to a stripmall.) It turns out that people on the outskirts of town have been feeding them all summer, intentionally luring the deer into the town so that they will be safe during hunting season.
