That’s a good question. To me, a Multiculturalist is anyone who advocates non-White immigration to a traditionally White nation. I consider the vast majority of Multiculturalists to be altruistic. I disagree with them, but I respect their belief system.
“Hard core” Multiculturalists are anti-White bigots. In my opinion, they want to exterminate Whites. You can easily spot these people because they tend to blame Whites for all the problems in the world. I believe their motivation is self-hatred.
To clarify, not all Multiculturalists want to exterminate Whites, as I said, just “Hard core” Multiculturalists.

I’m also interested in how you define whiteness. Is it an all or nothing property? Are there grades? Do you consider all European descendants as being in the same family, so to speak? Ethnicity-wise, do you see Italians as being as white as Scandinavians?

It’s mighty white of you to decide what ideas we are allowed to consider and debate here in GD. Ultimately, it’s the staff here at the Straight Dope who decide where the line is drawn; I may disagree about it’s placement, but as it’s their board, I would respect their decision. If I couldn’t live with it, I’d just go somewhere else. So far, I have no real beefs with their judgement.

Millen88 , how did you come to your beliefs?(If you dont mind sharing a little about your life) Negative experiences with other races? Family? Personally, I know some people who were involved in white gangs while in prison(for drug crimes) for protection and came out thinking much lesser of other groups. Is it contemporary American culture? (please dont anyone pretend not to know what I mean) I like to call it the Evil White Male Hypothesis, where all society’s ills can eventually be traced back to males of European descent. Are you frustrated at being blamed for things you feel you had nothing to do with? Finally, am I a traitor to the cause for marrying outside of the white race and fathering a child?

Millen88, if I may, I’d like to explain why the whole White Separatist movement, frankly, scares the hell out of me. I am white. Specifically, I’m mostly English and an eighth and a bit Irish, with a few drops of French and German blood. When I was a toddler, my family moved from England to a small town in America which was almost all white. Despite being as white and as white-looking as you can get, I still got beat up on a regular basis in part because I was an immigrant. My best friend who was also white got beat up because she was handicapped. When I was in college, I studied in Japan for a year, a nation which is highly monoracial and conformist and as proud of it as any White Separatist I’ve seen. There, children could and did get beaten up for differences as slender as how they wore their socks. You might want to do a search for “ijime”. What these experiences taught me is this: no matter how much conformity a society contains, even if that conformity is chosen by the members of that society, some people will be persecuted for those differences. As someone who was, I cannot, in good conscience, support that in any way shape or form. Instead, I reserve the right to defend those who would be classed “inferior” or “deserving of such treatment” for any external reason.
From what I’ve seen both of life and of White Nationalism, I don’t think the solution proposed would solve the problem. Indeed, I know that 100 years ago in America, rather than celebrating their Irish heritage, Irish immigrants were not considered “white” and were considered inferiour, as were Slovaks, Poles, Italians, etc. It was a scandal in England when my grandfather married my grandmother, and she was only half Irish.

Well, aside from your wavery standard for what whiteness is, why should color have anything to do with immigration? I also hesitate to mention that the first white people to come here were immigrants, but that probably hints at some unpleasantness with the natives and then I’d just be blaming whitey for everything, being the racist multiculturalist I am. :rolleyes:
I can find absolutely no potential problems with a system like that as a basis for immigration and other matters.
Why exactly do we need that? What binds white people together in such a way that they need to make decisions without the influence of people with other skin colors? White people are a diverse group without any particular characteristics in common aside from pigmentation, and even there you can find plenty of variety.
Multiculturalism is not even a word because Culture, by definition is a UNIQUE and DEFINITIVE description of details which pertain to a specific ethnic entity.
The key words here are SPECIFIC, notice there is no use of MULTI-SPECIFIC - because that cannot constitute a word.

“Many cultures”. When I lived in a western ghetto in a Chinese country, my culture and the Chinese culture coexisted within the same political and geographical delineation.
It’s what you get when you’re tolerant: people being allowed to live the way they want side-by-side, as long as they don’t impinge on each others’ rights. So that in the city where I live now there is a mosque and a synagogue and a Catholic church and a Presbyterian one and an African Evangelical chapel; there are Indian restaurants and Chinese ones, French ones, American ones, Irish ones; there’s a Chinese New Year festival, and St. Patrick’s Day; and so on.
You can take your homogeneity and stick it. How boring that would be. Give me diversity.

There is a genetic test for whiteness. Thats’ in the NIH’s Genome Project. In the Jewish Torah there is a genealogical test of the written variety. Jews are the biggest and most insular racists, and good for them.
Geography naturaly segregates people. Countries are made of people. Courntries are founded by specific races. North American was founded as America, by the Pilgrims of Plymouth Colonly on Dec. 11, 1620. So America is only a white nation.
