Lately, I’ve noticed a delay in pages loading. I’ve also noticed a “Share” menu in the menu bar, next to “Thread Tools.” When I click on “Share,” a menu pops up, inviting me to share the thread with Blogger, Facebook, and a number of other sites, all of whom are identified with logos.
Question: Is the delay in loading caused by the necessity of loading all these pages’ logos, or something else to do with this “Share” function?
Next question: I have no interest in Blogger, Facebook, or other social networking sites. If loading this Share function and its logos does slow down the loading of SDMB pages, can I disable this function?
What really pisses me off is that when my mouse hovers over the arrow next to the word “share” for more than a microsecond, the menu pops up without me clicking, and stays for a second or two, and sometimes I have to click the X to make it go away…
I find that the longer threads can take up to a minute to load which is very unusual; I have never really had the problems other users have complained of, until recently. I am not sure if it came with the irritating “share” deal, or with the click on this link to make money for the Man, but it sure is irritating. I also have found that if I foolishly click on the scroll bar or page down while the page is trying to load, it takes twice as long. Is there anything that can be done? Are very many of us using that “share” stuff? I have never thought of the SDMB as much of a Facebook crowd.
I’ve also noticed the loading lag-time effect the last week or so.
I notice that since logging on this evening, I don’t have the problem. Wonder if something got turned off.
#$%&*## Board. Just as I say that, I get the delays again.
