Democrat Obstructionism

Why do the Democrats hate the Department of Homeland Security? They just voted, for the fourth time, against funding the agency.

Why should they like it?

Care to explain to the peanut gallery what the thread title has to do with the content of the first post?

I don’t know. Senator Mikulski was going on and on (and on) about the Coast Guard cutting ice in Chesapeake Bay, because, baby, it’s cold outside.

Next, Senator Klobuchar went into some bizarre rant about Somalis in Minnesota.

Oh, I almost forgot, Senator Reid started by complaining that the Speaker of the House isn’t listening to him. Why on Earth should he?

Still, the Dems voted against funding the department.

How is that obstructionism?

Spin Fail.

Reality: The Republicans (who are in charge, and thus fully responsible for what happens) keep having snit fits and attaching poison pills to DHS funding bills.

I was never a fan of the Department of Fatherland Security anyway.

The agency needs funding. The Democrat party is filibustering. That’s obstruction.

It’s a superfluous Orwellian monstrosity created in the irrational, hysterical aftermath of 9/11 and may well be the totalitarian force that once and for all squashes the spirit of individualism amidst the foregone notion of limited government.

We’ll see in about 50 years.

The Republicans want to attach conditions to the funding that the Democrats find unacceptable. That’s politics.

If you want to debate whether the conditions are good or not, why poison the well?

You know what you guys should do? Abolish the filibuster. It’s undemocratic and evil, right? And it’ll never ever come back and bite you in the ass, because you have a permanent majority, right? Right?

The title of the thread is ‘Democrat Obstructionism’.

So… There’s only one Democrat that’s being obstructive? If it was party-wide, then it would be Democratic obstructionism. But since it’s only one guy, what’s the problem?

Not really a debate. More of a short rant.

Off to the Pit. Have fun.

Maybe he’s really fat and the hallway is narrow.

Because they’re evil commie Muslims who hate America?

The Democrats do not oppose the Department of Homeland Security. Both parties support the DHS.

The Republicans are opposed to President Obama’s Executive Order on Immigration. Democrats support the executive order.

Republicans put an override of the executive order into the DHS funding bill. Democrats have said they will vote for a funding bill that takes out the override but will not vote for a bill that includes it.

Right now both parties are playing a game of chicken on the issue and trying to make sure the other party gets the blame if a bill isn’t passed.

This is a disheartening trend. Moving threads to the Pit, where people can insult you, rather than focusing on the issues at hand. :frowning:

Shut up you fucking trainwreck.

Telling other people to shut up is not how message boards function. Go fuck a cactus.

You don’t think you’re omitting any key details in your OP, do you?
