Oh sure, that’s what he says. But has Austria ever release his long-form birth certificate?
His real name is Arnold Schwarzawannaleio’u and he was born in Hawai’i. The name and accent are fake, he just puts it on to score with chicks. He’s eligible. He’s just having a hell of a time getting Vital Statistics in Hawai’i to release his real birth certificate.
This is not a fact. Obama is doing as a good a job as anyone could have expecyted and his approval ratings are still higher thatn Ronald Reagan’s were at this same point in his Presidency. Obama will be reelected in a walk in 2012 over Mitt Romney.
The answer to your question is that there are currently no viable Republicans I’m aware of who I could ever have anything but contempt for, but there are degrees of badness, so it would be less damaging to the country to endure a four year reign of ineptitude from an empty suit like Romney or Pawlenty than the national death sentence that would be spelled by something like Palin.
ETA, maybe if some complete RINO came along who supported abortion rights and gay marriage and told the religous right to go fuck itself I could be persuaded not to puke.
After all, he did once promise that “ahhhl be bahhck.”
In all seriousness, Obama and his administration has functioned as well as could be expected, under the circumstances. All of the partisans are pissed at him because it is the nature of partisans to expect unrealistic outcomes. Both the Democrats and Republicans are angry because Obama has not turned a miserable recession into a new Golden Age in less than two years.
The Republicans think that anger at the lousy economy is enough to win them the mid-term elections. All they need to do is grumble and whine, and the suffering voters will flock to them. Why offer plans or planners when the voters are in a mood to bite off every head that rises above the crowd?
The Democrats are mired in the disappointment of failed expectations. They thought that the transition from the Bush Administration to the Obama Administration would yield much more progress on myriad issues. The biggest and most abrupt sea change in American political history does not satisfy them because they wanted All of It, and Right Now. If Obama can’t get it done, than maybe they’ll take another look at Ralph Nader.
The Republicans offer nothing but the empty hope of change for its own sake. They offer nobody, and nobody is the candidate that the voters are willing to vote for in these difficult times.
No, they are unhappy because he’s done very little and shows little evidence he’ll do much more. Nor would I call Obama “the biggest sea sea change in American political history”; he’s more of a ripple, just one more right wing corporatist in a long series of them.
I’d further point out to Shagnasty that on a technical level, your post title has only one foregone conclusion: that there will be a Republican President at some point in the future. It says NOTHING about it being in 2012.
None of them. As far as I’m concerned, they pander too much to the sort of people I despise. They put party before country. They lean to much toward the “dominionist” or “chritsian reconstructionist” ideas of the so called “christian nation”. As evidenced by past actions such as “free speech zones” and the Patriot Act and GITMO they apparently think they can take away whatever freedoms they please.
I don’t see ANY of the biggest Republicans that I’d vote for. They all cater to the social conservatives much too much, and I can’t hold my nose and vote for any such candidate. A lot of them are not at all fiscally conservative, either…at least when it comes to their own pet causes.
As a general rule, I consider Republican women to be even worse than Republican men. They might believe that it’s OK for them, as women, to have careers, but they seem to want most women to stay broke, barefoot, and pregnant. Most Republican women are not feminists, but rather antifeminist.
Well, I was thinking that maybe Lindsey Graham would be tolerable as President. But it would have to be the Graham of a few years ago and not the one that’s already started his courting of the Tea Party nuts.
