Democrats, listen up if you'd like to win the election.

Perhaps you can tell us what major aspects of Republican administration have *not *merited hostility? I co believe in giving credit where due, but it does have to *be *due.

See, your mistake is judging by postings. I’m pretty damn staunch. I’m as staunch as they come. I would dare anyone to outstaunch me in a staunching contest. I’m making phone calls for the Obama campaign, I’m writing postcards, I’m doing everything I can to help my candidate of choice win the election in November.

I just see no point in frothing excessively about it on the Internet.

Be hostile to Bush’s administration, then, not Republicans-on-the-street.

Except, oh wait, you are incapable of not forcing false dichotomies. As evidenced by your ridiculous response to me.

If a few of you have not noticed, I will call attention to the fact that threads that are getting too far from actual debates in this Forum are being closed. I can (barely) tolerate the same shopworn arguments from both sides being repeated in eight or ten threads, simultaneously, but I see no reason why I should have to read those arguments in the contexts of personal attacks.

Everyone back off the personal nonsense and stick to something resembling a discussion.

*Not *to the people who (A) created the Bush administration, (B) enabled it for 7+ years, and (C) now want to effectively *extend * it? Why? And what sort of thing do you see as “hostility” to people on the street themselves rather than to what they support?

If you don’t address problems at their source, they don’t get fixed. In a democracy, as in most other walks of life, the people ultimately responsible for an administration are the ones who voted for it - whether they admit it or not, and they often don’t.

A more substantive reply, something approaching an actual refutation or counterargument even if falling far short in the attempt, would be far more useful.

Ok, I was with you until this sentence. Not afraid of the bogeyman? Bush’s entire presidency has been built on fear of the bogeyman. Middle American conservatives aren’t afraid of the bogeyman? Go visit the Sean Hannity forums sometime. I wouldn’t have imagined such fearful, ignorant individuals could actually exist.
