It’s because just about everything related to the SDMB seems to be a low priority ar the Reader. Really, where the SDMB fit in to the grand scheme of things? If it’s such a low priority, why continue to maintain it?
Because maintenance costs minus advertising minus subscriptions = worth it? I figure they think of it as buying lottery tickets - Maybe Google or someone will buy them out. They’ve made it pretty clear they don’t want to actively grow the place so that’s all I can come up with save sentimentality or negligence, which I graciously discount for the most part. Or maybe they think it can stay on the back burner forever and they can get started on a real web presence whenever they feel like it.
Of course that’s all a hijack of the point of this thread which, considering the revelation that sites are easy to block, has morphed to be are the Admins willing to adjust the filter at all and if they did then how would they decide? In the specific instance of this OP, I personally think “Democrats Suck” is a little innocuous to get a banning. Are we just going to make complaints and hope a passing mod agrees?
Well, yes, but was just pointing out that it was an example of not being able to be bothered to do anything about it instead of letting you get away with claiming that you couldn’t do anything about it.
On my sites, getting rid of objectionable ads is fairly high priority, based upon the reputation of the site and also making sure that the ads are the kinds of things my readers would like to see so that they have more of a chance to click on them and make the money. So if you can’t be bothered to do the right thing you should care about doing the one that more effectively does what they were put there for to do in the first place.
