Or, who do you really wish doesn’t get the nomination? I really don’t want Lieberman to get it, for reasons Eve originally described in this BBQ thread .
Help me choose an alternative. Who do you like and why?

Aw, can we please wait until at least after the new year? Come on! We just finished one torture session, let our nerve endings heal before inflicting another one on us.
Anybody but Lieberman is fine with me. I’m not going to vote for any Christian Conservatives, even if they are jewish.

I’ve got a radical idea…instead of Democrats hoping and predicting, how about Democrats voting. Like, in primaries or something?
I hate this constant speculation (both Democrat and Republican, but a sitting president will always get his party’s nomination). It serves no one but the party power brokers to know who’s got good word-of-mouth before the first ballot is cast.
Hmm. Polycarp? You ever considered politics?
The “republocratic” senator from Arizona would be pretty cool. *
Colin Powell would be great.
Hillary Clinton would be most excellent for the sole reason of watching the knee jerk ditto-head types grinding their teeth in furious anger. Heh heh heh.
John McCain is still my pick. I don’t agree with him on some large issues, but I respect him. More then I can say for 90% of the other politicians.
Yeah, that’s precisely what I meant; everybody just hope and not vote in the primaries.
Who the fuck said anything about not voting?
Check out Howard Dean from Vermont.
Let’s see: not Daschle, not Gephardt, not Leiberman.
John McCain becoming a Dem and seeking the 2004 nomination is my political wet dream, but I don’t think it’s gonna happen.
I don’t know enough about Kerry, Edwards, or Dean to say one way or the other.
I don’t suppose Bill Bradley will make another run, will he? Not that he’d likely do any better than last time…
IMHO this presidential election is going to be some very tough sledding for the dems. The best available speculation of who’s going to run reminds me of “The Seven Dwarves” characterisation of the '80(?) primaries.
Strategically, I believe the democrats have to win their traditional strongholds as well as the south to win the White House. But who can do it?
Steinem
Bob Kerry
I second Howard Dean. He’s a great level-headed guy. Everyone in my area (upstate NY, near VT) adores him.
Russ Feingold - another in a fine line of Wisconsin progressives. Of course, I don’t think he’d want the job, being very happy in the Senate.
Russ would get my vote. It’s a pity that he probably won’t run.
Dean. He’s a great guy, and signed the Civil Union bill into VT law. He took a lot of flak from conservatives, but he still managed to win the next election cause he’s just so damn great.
Of course, if you want a more conservative candidate, he might not be the choice for you.
Howard Dean, no question.
The so-called Seven Dwarves were in the '92 election. I believe the unknown the Democrats ended up nominating that year was a guy named Clinton.
I haven’t look at the other guys yet, but I’ve been looking at Howard Dean’s website. I don’t think he’ll do well in the South or even here in Missouri, but I like what I see so far.
I believe that Bush’s apparent popularity right now could be a good thing for the Democrats. A lot of the party leadership is going to step aside, not wanting to risk their positions. That leaves the ability for a talented “unknown” governor to step in.
