It is unusual for the NWS to issue a Winter Storm Watch two days before the expected start of the storm. This has the potential to be just as big and nasty as the last one.
It must be the one which is soaking northern California right now. From about San Francisco on northwards, there have been flood warnings for this afternoon. And even here in San Jose, there’s one heck of a gale blowing, though not much rain at the moment. Maybe, before it hits you, it’ll get a lot of the snow scraped out of it as it blows over the Sierras.
Just today I finally got my driveway completely cleared off where I can now park both cars in it. I still got 2 feet in my yard. If this is as bad as the last one, things are going to be extremely messy.
It’s probably all my fault for saying, “why buy a snow blower, you hardly ever need one around here”
See, this is why I call it climate change, not global warming. Global warming is too warm and fuzzy. The weather going batshit, that is more accurately represented by climate change. Here we are, having an incredibly mild winter (that oughta jinx us), and Vancouver (and apparently Denver) can’t buy a break.
Oh boy. I finally got the Mousemobile out of the driveway yesterday. :smack: The inverse pot holes are very amusing: if you hit a hole, its the pavement, because you’ve been driving on ice.
We really need the moisture, but good Gods do we have to get it all in one go!
Hey, I’m planning to come up there in a couple of weeks for a short vacation. I don’t have a whole lot of experience with big mean snow, so could y’all just tone it down and get things all cleaned up just as soon as possible? Thanks!

5-10 inches before the heaviest snow even starts. Great. I think I’ll leave my car in the driveway so I won’t have to shovel so much. I can just brush it off and pull into the garage.
On the bright side, another twenty inches of snow will fill in the ruts.
I went to Safeway on my way home so I don’t have to stock up tomorrow, and they still have giant gaping holes on their shelves. I’m standing there wondering, “Hmm, I wonder what I could do with anchovies, bread crumbs, and capers?”
Now it is splitting into two waves - the first one tomorrow and tomorrow night, and the second one (which is still up in the air, forecast wise) Friday night and possibly all weekend.
This is some seriously weird shit. We could have two of the top ten storms ever in Denver (the snowiest major city in the US) within 9 days of each other.
I may just have to go to the store myself tomorrow morning for milk, bread and eggs. French toast weekend!
