Okay, this is really weird. The dateline on the first link is April Fool’s Day, but this is apparently a for-real story
ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA) – Even as some on Capitol Hill are prepared to shut down the government over federal red ink right across town in Alexandria others in government are about to spend $600,000 on a piece of artwork that may not exactly be a classic.
The Pentagon already has a reputation for spending money a little recklessly – $900 toilet seats and the like. The brand new $700 million Mark Center building is not going to help. It was built for the defense department in Alexandria and now that’s its almost done, someone down there is thinking about spending $600,000 for a statue of a fairy riding on a toad.
The statue is the brainchild of a woman named Cheryl Foster who describes her work this way: a fairy using a toad as transportation scurries to the entrance of the station. The interior of the toad is illuminated and the sounds of nature emanate from his throat.
Whether or not this is your sort of thing, you may not get to actually see it because the fairy will be riding to work out by the shuttle bus stops, which is a tad out of the way.

I kinda like the sculpture, which looks like a piece of Victorian whimsy. But outside a Pentagon building? What in the name of Mars were they thinking? I can write a stack of jokes just thinking about it.
I haven’t heard a word about this. I think there’s too much other weird stuff going on, and a statue of a DoD Fairy Toad just got lost in the shuffle.
The real question is:
How can Fox News blame Obama for this?
