Wow. So basically, the sky isn’t blue it’s cerulean. Yeah, not the same thing at all.
Why doesnt this guy have a pit thread about him?

Well, for one thing - and in addition to all the other things I mentioned - we have the rise of Sarah Palin and her exceptional ability to rally conservatives together and motivate them to take action. Generally it’s the left who are the rabble-rousers and activists, and the right, realizing that life is imperfect, mostly just tries to make the best of things. So it’s unusual for the nation’s conservative population to rise up and try to make things happen apart from the elections that take place every four years. Palin, for whatever reason, has been able to rally a significant portion of the country’s conservatives to coalesce and begin agitating for change in the direction the country has been headed.
And then there are the banking and automobile takeovers and the stimulous and the possibly unconstitutional and largely unpopular health care plan, most of which Congress is as responsible for as Obama, if not moreso.
But of course we can all just ignore all that and attribute the rise of the Tea Party to the color of Obama’s skin, can’t we? Because let’s face it, deprived of the “R” word to fall back on you’re largely holding an empty sack on this issue.
Perhaps because what he said is correct?
Or perhaps you’d like to offer your spin on the reason for the 2nd Amendment?
(And why is it that to offer an explanation for someone’s words around here automatically means that you support what they say? Happens every time. My guess is that it’s just another way to put words into people’s mouths so you don’t have to argue about what they actually said. Sort of like what Bridget Burke’s been doing, only with less honesty.)
Fair enough Starving Artist but I’ve heard a LOT of righty over the last year or so talking about how they need to take their country back, how Obama is out to destroy the country or worse in direct partnership with it’s enemies and on and on.
I don’t remember them being as loud when the previous guy was destroying* the economy and starting wars etc.
Anyway my major point still stands, like it or not the current admin have a mandate and they have every right to try to push through their agenda where they can get it through. You take your country back at the ballot box. The “greatest democracy in the world” should not be embarrassed by resident yahoos talking about 2nd amendment solutions etc. It really does just bolster all the mostly incorrect cliches us foreigners have of you lot and once those images/opinions are set they are hard to remove.
*or at the very least facilitating a complete comporate rape of resourses leading to the current economic collapse. I’m happy to add blame to previous admins of all persuasions but the real damage was done on George’s watch.
The second amendment was written in another time. When we actually had to take to arms to start this country. Since then we’ve actually come up with other means to change the government we don’t like, sure it is by no means a perfect system but it results in a lot fewer deaths.
In short, the liberals in America are out to destroy it, in the sense that they want to make it over into something it’s never been.
No, but the left was doing plenty of that for them. ![]()
And besides, most of the unrest in this country over liberal policies goes back decades, and the actions of Obama and Congress have finally gone too far.
They don’t have a mandate to intentionally legislate against the will of the people, which they unquestionably did in terms of the health care bill, and arguably what they did with the stimulous package and corporate bailouts.
Which is what the Tea Party and most of the country’s conservatives are determined to do.
Why should it be embarrassed? Assuming you’re talking about Angle, she’s one woman out of a country with a population of three hundred million. We conservatives don’t generally get embarrassed for the country over what one of us out of tens of millions does, just like we don’t give up on or condemn human nature because some individual somewhere does something bad.
I’m sure you’re correct. But you might want to consider that you’re getting your information from biased sources which are eager to portray the right in America in the most negative way possible.
This statement virtually reeks of media-created bias. Would you care to describe just what resources have been raped corporationally so as to collapse the economy? And with regard to the mortgage fiasco, Congress was more to blame than Bush was. Bush saw what was happening and wanted to take steps to rein it in but he was thwarted by certain members of Congress, Barney Frank notable among them.)
The founding fathers wanted this country’s government always to be subservient to the people. And they knew that government by its very nature will gravitate toward making the citizenry subservient to it. So the 2nd Amendment was created in an attempt to insure that the people always had the means to take the country back in the event that government began to operate on its own and outside the will of the people. That does not change with the passage of time.
Now none of this is intended to say that we’ve reached that point yet, or that we’ve even come close. But it is a very serious warning sign when you have the Speaker of the House cheering her members to vote against the public will even if they get voted out of office for it. Such a government is not a government in control of the people.
This is just sour grapes. Nancy Pelosi did nothiing without the express approval of the elected representatives. You seem to have some fear or even hatred for the constitutional form of government, and would rather rely on bullets rather than ballots. You are the threat to America that liberals could never hope to be.
That’s how making progress works, fool.
Yho is this “the left” entity you speak of?
That is not only not unquestionable, it’s simply false. But there’s no chance of getting you to grasp such simple things as polls or data, is there?
That is arguable, because it’s what Bush did. But there’s no point in pointing that out to you either, is there?
And the Republican nominee for Senate against the hated Democrat Harry Reid, and the fondest hope of the Tea Party that is now running away from her as fast as possible.
But you know that too, you dishonest turd.
Says the Foxbot.
But that was simply lying.
Yeah, elected representatives whom she was encouraging to vote against the will of their constituencies, which they did.
Nope. I’m just peachy with our constitutional form of government. As long as it remains constitutional.
Or please. I doubt even you believe that nonsense. So, what’s that word for dishonest again…or yeah, “lying”. You’re deliberately lying. So why should anyone listen to you?
Boy, Elvis. You sure showed me with that one.
I’ve been cognizant of the media’s left-wing bias since the sixties. And I don’t watch Fox, nor do I listen to Rush Limbaugh.
So put that in your smipe and poke it!
The will of the people is expressed through elections, and the representatives cast legal votes. Apparently you find that threatening, and encourage fools to “take back their country” by any means necessary. If you weren’t such a coward, I would call you a traitor.
Just trying to fight some ignorance.
You made all that bullshit up by yourself? Uh, wow.
If we’re not even close to that point yet why did certain political leaders find it necessary to invoke that right to take back the government? Why not just invoke the electoral process alone? And as others have said, who are we taking the government back from? Those in office were put there by the people in the first place.
But I’ll leave this to others that seem to be more into these futile brick-wall head-banging discussions.
Cite where I’ve ever encouraged anyone to take back the country by any means possible? Or advocated violence as a tool for political gain?
If you weren’t such a liar, I wouldn’t call you a liar. ![]()
Then you need a new trainer. That was some weak shit.
Who invoked it? I haven’t heard of even one political leader who’s advocated armed insurrection against the government.
Oh, well, as much fun as all this hysteria is to contend with, I’ve got other things to do. Later.
There’ve been many, curiously, the one that actually made a dent in his thick skull . . . was the one where he pitted himself. He got better.
CMC fnord!
Off to sleep, got to do the dishes later, maybe bake some cookies, it’s snowing so I’ll prolly have to get the snowblower out tomorrow, hope there’s enough gas.
You’re kidding, right? Yep, no one mentioned the second amendment ever. We’ve been discussing fluffy kittens and pudgy puppies. I bet these aren’t the Droids I’m looking for either? Well, I’ll just be going then.
Hello wall! How are you today?
Not to mention all the Teaper talk of “spilling the blood of tyrants”. Who does Starkers think these nameless tyrants are, anyway?
