Dermoid cysts?

Thanks to regular visits to my OB/GYN, my pap smear and mammogram are spiffy, but when she was checking out the uterus my doc found a 4 cm cyst on my left ovary. She thinks it may be a dermoid cyst but I have a followup for a better ultrasound, and she is scheduling me for a consult with another doctor …

So, anybody have cystic experiences they want to share?

IANAD, but i am a bit of a medical buff.

Dermoid cysts are a form of a teratoma, they can contain hair, teeth, sweat glands, blood, any kind of mature tissue, and since they contain mature tissue they are almost always benign.

Treatment is complete surgical removal of the cyst.
