Describe a movie you saw and liked as a kid but can't remember its title

I don’t remember the title, but I do remember the older girl would relay messages to the others from “Sister”, what they called the nun. And the girls did remember how to say the Lord’s Prayer. What I never could figure out is how their clothes grew to fit them so well, as they got older. And the older girl didn’t tell the others that “Sister” was dead, she wanted to keep her position of authority.

I’ve got it! It was The Mysterious Island of Beautiful Women

Not too original of a title.

Dammit Baker! I just spent 10 minutes putting together details!
FWIW…here is the amazing post I was going to make:

MAYBE…I might be having a particularly impressive Google-Fu moment.
How about Mysterious Island of Beautiful Women:

Trailer.

Rotten Tomatoes says an alternate title is Island-Sister Theresa.

The whole movie is available in three parts on Youtube, apparently.

Goddamn. I spent YEARS wondering if I imagined this movie, and you people sort it out in a matter of hours. (Holy crap. Peter Lawford? Really?)

Ghod bless the internet. Now if you could only tell me how to become a millionaire while I sit here on my can…

No word on the other movie? At least I know I SAW that movie, in a theatre…

When did it come out? Mid-1960s.

Who was in it? no idea.

What plot if any do you remember? A group of men planned a robbery. At the end they were making a getaway with the loot, but they were stopped at a railroad crossing due to a train was going through, and the police captured them. The last scene was them in prison planning another robbery.

What was special to you about it? It was a British movie, and it was black-and-white.

And now I’m never gonna find out what that other movie was.

Well, at least I know for sure it wasn’t a really bad 1970s wet dream…

It wasn’t Battle of the Amazons, was it?

Not quite. This one seems to lack kung fu masters, black Hercules dudes. and luchadors.

When did it come out? maybe late 70’s early 80’s
Who was in it? Don’t know
What plot if any do you remember? Group of kids live alone and try to live a normal life going to school and such.
What was special to you about it? Grew up poor was one of the very few movies I was able to see.

Any other clues you can think of? In one scene the principle of the school they attend insists on meeting the parents. Seems like the kids are on the run a lot.

I wasn’t a kid but I saw a movie I liked it’s an old movie , some men were eating some cheese and a little boy put a piece of the cheese under a microscope to look at it then had one of the men look at it too and he spit the cheese out ! LOL! I will have to remember never to do that while eating cheese.
I think Lionel Barrymore was in it.

Could this be The Story of Louis Pasteur? Except Barrymore wasn’t in it.

Vervain, this probably isn’t it, since it came out in 1991, but there’s Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead. In it, an American family of five children are left to live for the summer with an elderly babysitter while their mother and her boyfriend go to Australia on vacation The babysitter dies of a heart attack. The five children decide to hide her death and live by themselves for the summer:

Was it British? The Kids From 47A. Here’s an episode, the titles might be enough to remind you of it.

Wendell thank you but no that is not the movie I was thinking of. I believe it might have been a made for TV movie.

oh, no, not at all. This was not a cheerful movie and the young female had a longer, thinner, unutterably sadder face. Hopeful, but barely.

So, very much like Schindler’s List in that regard.

Movie was probably made in the 1950s- I remember seeing it on TV in the mid 60s when I was 8 or 9.

It was a western- wagon train type move. There are two guys getting drunk late at night.

All I seem to remember is: they are making motions with their hands simulating they are causing thunder and lightning kinda like they are cracking a whip.

The other scene is the drunk young guy playing with a silk bow.

Places the bow above his upper lip and says in a Snidely Whiplash voice: “Pay the rent!”

Places the bow on the side of his head, and says in a Nell voice: “But I can’t pay the rent”

Again Snidely Whiplash, with bow above upper lip: "Pay the rent!

Again Nell, with bow on side of his head: “But I can’t pay the rent”

Places the bow under his chin to simulate a bow tie, and in a Dudley DoRight-type voice: “I’ll pay the rent.”

Nell once again withe the bow on the side of his head: “My hero”

Don’t know the movie but my friend Freako* Freddie taught me the little story you recount (it was “you must pay the rent!” in his rendition) He used his long hair to illustrate the story. This was in the middle 70’s.

*the ONLY person I ever knew who had his eye shot out, for real. Bow and arrow accident.

I saw that routine done on a children’s program in the 1970’s.

When did it come out? Early 90’s… possibly late 80’s
Who was in it? No idea
What plot if any do you remember? Other than when watching the Matrix, I always think “Trinity looks like the girl from that bad movie I saw once”. So, black leather, maybe sunglasses, black hair. Though possibly long, and unslicked. There was definitely a visual motif of a large hand gun, possibly a revolver(Magnum .44, probably black).

What was special to you about it? Nothing, I’m pretty sure it was terrible.

Any other clues you can think of?

This is all possibly completely wrong:
She was an assassin and received her orders via an arcade game… maybe? There was an arcade machine in the film… I feel like it served a purpose. Maybe the game was a shooter game and that’s where the gun came in.
Post-apocalyptic. Or at least there were crumbling buildings and maybe sand…

I want to say the name of the movie was “The Eliminators” or “The Exterminators” or even “The Revolver” but I can’t find any movies matching that…
