Describe a movie you saw and liked as a kid but can't remember its title

This landlord-tenant scenario was also a Utica Club beer commercial in the mid-70s.

“You must pay the rent”

“I can’t pay the rent. Have a Utica Club.”

“You don’t have to pay the rent”

“I’ll pay the rent.”

“Not only do you not have to pay the rent, I think you’re due for a paint job!”

Anne of Green Gables was a pale rural orphon who wore her (red) hair in two braids, but otherwise rather Pollyanna-ish.

This was the first “drama” I ever enjoyed. (As I kid I only liked adventure/commedy).

It ended in an outside shot, with the cast frozen (like the start of a stage musical), with the camera pulling out and away.

That’s the bit I still remember. They reach the crux of the plot, and everybody is just there, and the movie ends. It doesn’t resolve anything, but it’s all out in the open.

I think it’s been revieled that the leading female is also been sleeping with the patriarch of the group.

I think that the leading male is lodgeing in the house for some reason. I think that it’s the same movie where, earlier, when he moves in, the leading lady tells him that she’s sleeping in the room below, and if he wants anything, to just knock on the floor.

On TV in the late 70’s, so it would have to predate that.

Thank you, but it was in black and white, and very sad.

When did it come out?
1950’s, maybe 1960’s

Who was in it?
No clue

What plot if any do you remember?
All based on my imperfect recollections: Two strangers, a man and a woman, wake up in a house with no memory of how they got there. They may have no memories at all. I don’t remember. They try doors and windows, all blocked (by metal panels?) No phone. Eventually, they cut a hole in the wall and see stars, like they are in space. That’s all I got.

What was special to you about it?
I remember watching it with my brother one night. But, we had to turn it off before the end and we missed the (hopefully satisfying) ending.

Any other clues you can think of?
Might have been Twilight Zone or Outer Limits episode, rather than a movie, but I recall it being longer and slower moving than a tv show. 70% sure it was B&W. Most of the action takes place in the living room.

This board has had some success, but I am thin on details, unfortunately.

In the 1960’s I saw this movie at the theatre. A comedy. A gorrilla was breaking into homes, killing the people and stealing their bananas.
I remember two scenes. When he came in a kitchen and killed a little old lady. I think he used a banana as the weapon. Another when a reporter was next to a large bag of victims. someone inside moved and the reporter slightly sidekicked the bag as a hush up while still reporting.

While I’m here, does anyone else remember vanilla Cap’n Crunch? Round and it had a large white wale named Nilly

Can’t help you with the movie, yet, but Vanilly Crunch was my favorite. The whale was named Wilma.

The first movie that came to mind was The Park is Mine, but since I’ve never actually watched the film - only remembered seeing the VHS box on the wall at the locally-owned video rental shack back when such a thing was common - I couldn’t say that was it. Wikipedia says that the park Tommy Lee Jones takes over is Central Park in New York, so unless you got that detail wrong, I must be way off!

This sounds a lot like the plot of the sci-fi novel Needle, which absolutely had to be the inspiration for my second-favourite Kyle MacLachlan film, The Hidden. I want that car. I need the keys!

Sounds like a version of Poe’s detective story *The Murders In The Rue Morgue. *

Here’s a couple of versions:

Phantom of the Rue Morgue(1954) too early?

Murders in the Rue Morgue(1971) too late?

Here’s a list of adaptations.

Forget MacLachlan, the real story is the sad fate of Adam-12’s Sgt. “Mac” MacDonald. :frowning:

I think I still may have a copy of The Hidden on VHS somewhere. Interesting precursor to MacLachlan’s role as Agent Cooper in Twin Peaks.

It has to have been years since I’ve seen this movie. I remember only one scene from the whole thing but it’s always stuck out in my mind. I witch type woman dressed in red - possibly with a crown - jumps off a tall tower patio; she’s about to dive into an ocean chasing after something (might have been a child or some kind of protagonist). She had begun to change form into a snake (a red cobra), so her face looked horrifying with fangs and such. She dives into the ocean and has changed into said snake form. The kid or whatever protagonist is hiding inside a cave underwater. The snake swims past the whole and he breaths a sigh of relief only to look back and see the snake woman at the mouth of the cave laughing maniacally.
That’s when my memory cuts out. I know it’s not much to go on. It was an animated movie (possibly Disney ). Probably a kids movie that just seemed scary to me at the time. Any ideas?

I can’t remember the name or year it was made, but I know I saw it with my dad and he doesn’t remember the movie at all.
It was about this boy, who first of all, wasn’t even born normally, he was removed from his mother in this big gooey sack, and within like 5 minutes of him being born he was the size of a 2 year old, he could walk and his hair grew and everything. He was kept in this facility he was born in and I don’t remember if he ever got out. He kept growing really fast and I remember on his 11th birthday, he was the size of a 25 year old, and someone tried to kill him because he was a monster or something. I can’t find info on this movie anywhere! It’s like it doesn’t exist!

Sounds like “The Fly II,” although I haven’t seen it.

I finally determined the film, but I got the plot mostly wrong. The film is The Wrong Arm of the Law, and it starred Peter Sellers. A railroad crossing was involved near the end, but they got away and did not wind up in prison. I’m pretty sure I saw it on the same bill as The Pink Panther, which was out at about the same time.

You may be conflating it with Go To Blazes. That one does end with the crooks being transported to prison, and planning their next job.

I’ve tried this before but no luck.

I saw it on TV sometime in the 90’s, probably early to mid.

An middle to older-ish woman is in a bed. She’s tied there by duct tape, her hands are bound kind of above her, her mouth is taped. There’s another woman in the room, she’s the one who’s responsible but she’s like, nervous or freaking out or something, definitely not like “ha ha, now I’ve got you” mood. A black guy comes into the room, he’s like “OMG WTF?!” and he tries to free the woman in the duct tape.

The other woman panicks, she obviously wants to keep her prisoner, she looks around frantically and picks up a pair of scissors and stabs the black guy in the back. He flails around trying to pull it out until he finally collapses and dies. The duct taped woman can only watch as all this is going on.

In another scene that I’m pretty sure was the same movie, a man and another woman was in bed, you see her from her back as she strips. They fuck but you don’t see it, the scene cuts away to her leaving the bed.

I don’t remember anything else about the movie. I mostly want to look it up so I can figure out why that woman was duct taped to the bed.

Approximately 50% of all R-rated movies ever made.

When did it come out?- I have no idea.
Who was in it?- I don’t know.
What plot if any do you remember?- I don’t know.
What was special to you about it?- It was very creepy. There was a scene where a women was hiding in her room and put up a mattress to block the doorway and a black spike thingy came out and shock a spike at her and she passed out. Then the last thing I can remember is something carrying her through the woods. Then, this alien-like creature took her?

Any other clues you can think of?
Just attack black spikes. Very realistic looking, but the movie was OLD . Not black and white, but OLD.

I watched a cartoon movie last ten year and I don’t remember the title…In the movie, all the adults are kipnapped by the aliens and the children are left in the world…The children later notice the cause and they planned to recue their parents…
