Well, I for one plan on whining on and on about Bush stealing the election and criticizing every single time Bush does anything at all while the repubs piss and moan about how liberal the board is, how they are tremendously outnumbered, and how the media is against them.
(please note the smilie. it indicates a large lack of seriousness in the above statement)
For me, a lot depends on how it goes down. If it is a close election and the supreme court gets involved, I’m packing up and moving to Canada. All and all, I expect more of the same of the last four years. I’ll grit my teeth and get through it.
Decent bands will get mad enough to make good records. The new green day album has a bit of a political bent and it’s the best one of theirs in years. Maybe if Bush is in office for another four, he’ll make u2 mad enough to stop making crap.
I agree with what has been pointed out about the supreme court. I thought the same of the last election.
I generally expect bad things to continue to happen, globally, whoever wins.
The worst part of it to me is what Cisco said. When he wins, it will be America officially saying to the world, “We approve of it all, and we want more!” How embarrasing.
Gotta go with El_Kabong on this one. Phased withdrawal, slow economic recovery, the world goes on.
Another attack on US soil and all bets are off. The reaction by the American people will either be withdrawal from the International Community, or a demand for heads…lots and lots of heads. It could go either way.
On February 27, 2005, there will be a large explosion in the Capitol Building. Bush declare the act the work of terrorists, and on the following day suspends habeas corpus and other rights. All non-Republican senators and representatives are jailed forthwith.
Then, on March 23, the rump Congress passes the Law to Remedy the Misery of the People and the Homeland.
Right, if this goes on, the nation will literally be bankrupt. We can’t afford this kind of defict. It is actually the most serious camapign issue, and most folks seem to not even know it’s happening.
Used to be the Democrats were “Tax and spend” and the GOP was “Cut spending and taxes” (and it was debateable which was better for the nation and the economy). But now the Republicans are “Cut taxes and increase spending” and that is without a doubt the very worst possible road to go.
