Marie is of course the mom from “Everybody Loves Raymond”.
How would you describe her “modus operandi” in a few words?
(It may help me describe my own mom in a story I am writing)
I always thought of her as a woman afraid of losing control of the ones she loves, so she goes to any means necessary to keep control over them. She’d doesn’t mind lying and manipulating her way. She even goes after those that just joined the family, like Robert’s new wife.
I believe she’s gotten worse as the show goes on. Then again, so has everybody. I wouldn’t be surprised to see an episode where they actually kill each other off.
She’s the sweet loving mother from hell.
Rabid Child has it right. She makes everything about herself, but she is willfully oblivious to her own behaviour.
A sucking needhole of steel.
A passive-aggressive manipulator who’s just trying to help, dear.
Pleasantly malevolent.
