Design your own Reality TV show

Now that we’re all SICK TO DEATH of Survivor, but the ratings have been such that we’re going to see a whole boatload of copy-cats over the next 18 months (Bootcamp, etc.), I thought it woudl be fun to ask…

If you were designing your own “Reality TV” show, what would it be?

How about…
Take a group of people, lock them in an a bunch of cells (oops, “cubicles”) for 10 hours a day. Have half as many computers as people, make them beg for the office supplies they need to do their jobs, only allow limited food and bathroom breaks, randomly reward and punish various behaviours, and see what fun breaks out!

Call it “Money or a Life”.

Sounds like it’s worth at least a cool $Mil to me! YMMV.

There’s a great short story called “The Most Dangerous Game” (the author escapes me). I think this kind of thing would make great reality TV.
I’ve got dibs on being the hunter!

I’d like to see each of a dozen people handed a spoon and informed that the first one who manages to tear out his or her own femur without detaching the entire leg live on TV gets a ridiculous amount of money.

The only way to improve it would be to make the show with like 6 tribes… then merge them to form 3 tribes… merge again to form one tribe.

To win that would be an achievement.

I’ve got a couple of ideas:

  1. A show where the viewer can watch a bunch of people sitting around watching a reality show where people are sitting around watching TV…

  2. Every week, have someone engage police and highway patrol officers in a high speed car chase around various parts of the city, trying to elude them.

Not only was it a great story, it was made into a great movie. Only runs about 1 hr 10 mins, and well worth it. I wouldn’t expect to see it in shits like blockbuster tho.

Film me in my natural habitat. Sitting on my ass, in my apartment, doing nothing.

Get 10 child molesters in a small wooden house. Nail all theirs dicks to the floor. Throw one rusty butterknife in the middle of the group. Set the house on fire. The one who gets out first goes free.

…especially if “natural habitat” means what I hope it does.

The Most Dangerous Game - definitely a great story and a great movie. And sadly it seems television will have to take it to that sort of level just to keep getting the same WOW value it gets from stuff like Survivor, things that are new and different and dangerous.

But it would be kind of neat to put the people I hate the most in that madman’s hands. I guess I’m just sadistic :smiley:
