Apparently, McCain doesn’t think children should be taught how to protect themselves against sexual predators. In his new campaign ad, he attacks Obama for supporting legislation to provide information to kindergartners on how to avoid inappropriate attention or touches.
Just going to the original bill here - and while it is hard to tell at first reading, it seems to cover more than the narrow purpose Obama’s spokesperson contends.
Really? What do you think it does cover, Mr. Moto? And, will you really see where it goes? What if it goes to suggest that McCain has horridly and despicably misrepresented the bill?
Coming in to say that’s a creepy fucking ad and certainly seems to make some really disgusting insinuations.
I think I’ve heard of this legislation, though: to my recollection it started in kindergarten with, as stated, advising children on what to do if somone touched them in a funny way and extending on as children gained awareness and hormones. But I could be wrong. This could be funding for sending six year olds to Tijuana donkey shows. It just seems really unlikely.
See, being the reactionary I am, I smell racism. McCain’s people are subtly (OK, not so subtly) raising the specter of the sexually dangerous black man and his threat to our white daughters.
Mr. Moto, I’m not sure I’m looking at the right bill. Are they talking about SB 2267?
The synopsis for that one is below:
Not that this is really all that important. It’s a sex ed bill.
From the bill itself:
Oh noes, parents getting involved in teaching their kids about sex?
It also stresses abstinence while giving information on contraception, but that’s unsurprising as I don’t know of a sex ed program that doesn’t stress abstinence as the safest sex around.
Nothing in the bill about kindergarteners, either, so I’m not sure if I’m looking at the right thing.
Seriously, can’t we just have ONE “Why I think McCain is a douche bag” thread so that folks can express their outrage over every. single. piece of propaganda they read without clogging up the Pit?
Well, it would be easier if he would do all his lying and douchebaggery in one place. But no, McCain has to lie in ads, and in speeches, and douchebag it up in VP vetting, and noun-verb-POWing, and so forth and so on.
If you want to blame someone for the variety and volume of these things, it’s McCain you have a beef with.
Not for kindergartners it doesn’t. The key words in the bill are “age appropriate.” All that was intended for kindergartners was “good touch/bad touch” and stranger danger discussions. The allegation in the mcCain ad that Obama supported “comprehensive sex education in kindergarten” is a flat lie, and yet one more dishonorable act by a once honorable man.
Of course I reserve the right to change my mind if we get miraculous new information that suddenly proves Obama wanted to distribute condoms to the kindergartners, or somesuch.
So let me just say that for the McCain campaign to level this filthy an ad against the father of two young girls is disgusting, horrifying, and orders of magnitude nastier than the Bush lie that McCain fathered a half black baby outside his marriage. Nice to know that McCain learned the real lesson of that sort of campaigning–that there are a lot of stupid, disgusting, nasty, low minded shitheads out there that will listen to it.
Fuck you, McCain, and your filth–I hope you choke on it. I hope you get dipped into a vat of it way past your nostrils until you can no longer keep yourself afloat in the muck and you sink in it forever. I hope it takes five and a half years of flailing in your own filth to finish the job.
Oh, and anybody who defends this shit? I hope you’re in there with him so he’ll have someone to climb on with his $500 shoes as he tries to get out.
This is foul. Even for Republicans this is foul.
Wonder how they’d like the rebuttal ad: John McCain wants to make sure your children don’t know how to protect themselves from pedophiles. McCain wants to make sure child molesters can have their way without being challenged. McCain approves of molesting children.
Lucky for McCain the Democrats have some class, along with a gag reflex.
Now the world doesn’t turn on this for me. But I think there was a bit more to this than Obama let on. Even if it isn’t dotting the i’s - that can be pointed out.
That’s how sausage gets made, Moto. A bill that get passed a comittee is not a bill that has been passed. Unless yoiu can actually come up with some evidence that Obama wanted to pass out condoms in kindergartens, why don’t you go fuck yourself.
ETA your fucking links don’t even say how Obama voted in committee.
I’ll give you some of that, but I’ve been in committees dickering over legal wording in a document and really, the worst that can be said here is that the committee did not bother to include the words “age appropriate”. This does not pass the Reasonable Person test.
