My telling Bricker off for his (long) pattern of dreadful behavior was never part of an argument. I don’t care if changes his mind. I haven’t respected him enough to give a shit any way at all about him for over 4 years. You think he’s a good guy; I think his actions have been, and I don’t use this term lightly, evil. Good people can do bad things. I think people can themselves become truly bad when they keep right on doing harm, either soothed by rationalization or because the ends justify the means for them.
That isn’t just politics. Plenty of people, of all political stripes, ultimately draw a line beyond which they simply won’t go for the simple reason no outcome could ever erase the taint. Fruit of the poisoned tree. John McCain used to be one, or at least played one on television. Then he sold himself for a shot at power. It’s whoring, though whores merely engage in a socially shadowy commercial enterprise. When McCain threw aside even the dregs of basic decency and honor, all for a shot at power, that’s when he switched from maverick to whore. Assassination political tactics have never been acceptable, especially when someone clearly sees and acknowledges the wrongness.
I don’t know what coinage bought Bricker, then or now. Don’t care. Not sure it matters much.

I’d pay half my check in taxes if it’d make sure I never had to go through that again, but I may. My current job is seasonal.
