So, um, the last few seconds…um, WTF.
And the previews…WTFx2.
I won’t give away the previews, but for everyone who’s going to say “What happened, my DVR cut off the last few seconds?”
Rudy showed up.
Obviously it was in his head. So maybe Dexter has some screws coming loose.
I think this is truly the dark passenger while Harry has been somewhat of a guiding light to Dexter - previews look very interesting.
Twice now Dexter has shown his real fury - I fear for the city if/when something happens to Deb or Harrison.
It’s delicious.
I was sorry to see Mos leave, but very glad that Dexter did not honor his last wish.
Was that Dexter’s first unplanned killing?
It depends what you mean by unplanned. He went in not sure what he was going to do. He had his kill tools with him. I’m willing to bet he had the sedative in his pocket. He just hadn’t made up his mind yet.
IIRC he’s had at least one or two other ‘rush jobs’ along the way.
no - there was the one in the gas station bathroom after Rita’s death.
It’s just dawned on me that in the last 6 years, I don’t think Miami metro has successfully put away any of the serial killers they’ve been after…have they? IIRC, they had the Skinner in custody, but Miguel got let him out of the holding cell. I think that’s the closest they’ve been. I think Dex typically kills them in the last episode, so what happens to the case after that. When the murders stop does the the investigation just sort of wind down? I know Dexter left Rudy to be found, but I don’t remember what he did to the Skinner or Trinity.
Skinner was tossed underneath the incoming squad car - death by cop.
Trinity is still being hunted by the FBI - Dexter left clues as to his leaving Miami (don’t recall the specifics).
Okay, I remember that now, vaguely.
That I don’t recall the specifics of.
But I think my point still stands…Miami Metro, for as long as we’ve been watching, haven’t caught anyone they’ve been after. Of course, it doesn’t help that Dexter’s been throwing them off the scent whenever they can. I think it’s safe to say that if he wasn’t a dirty cop (so to speak) they would have caught each and every one of them very quickly.
Well, as someone upthread stated - in the first season or so, he only went after folks who had “gotten away with it” or “beaten the system” - he didn’t go after the same cases that Miami Metro was actively pursuing - now, the ITK was slightly different, in that it was his brother and all - but that was the premise.
So, it could be said that in the past 6 seasons, there have been 6 cases that Miami Metro didn’t get to prosecute - but they did “solve” them as far the records show - including the Bay Harbor Butcher case.
Is it me or is Colin Hanks (whatever his character’s name is… Travis?) shaping up to be the most boring “Special Guest Villain” to date for a multi episode arc.
I liked how Dexter kind of split the middle by trying to let the killer go but, when he just didn’t have it in him, just killing him rather than giving him the cheek slice.
I guess his brother is going to take over for Harry for a while.
And next week:
Son of Trinity
Thanks … I didn’t notice the tools though. I was probably focusing on Sam’s request to forgive him.
Right - he went to the hospital with tools hoping to find/catch ‘whatshisname’ - then Sam woke up and asked to talk to him.
I’m not sure if they actually showed the tools, but they showed him pulling his foot locker out of the closet. He (IIRC) keeps his tools under a false bottom in there.
Geez…as if talking to dead dad Harry and the obtrusive voice-over narration weren’t enough crutches to reveal Dexter’s inner thoughts. Now we get Brian. Any guess when dead Rita shows up? Maybe she, Brian, and Harry can have an argument to demostrate Dexter’s split personality.
The entire arc is boring, not just Travis. The killings aside, neither he nor Edward James Olmos seem that chilling/terrifying, there’s no mystery (for the audience) regarding what they are doing, there’s no cat-and-mouse between Dexter and the killers, no character we know/care about is at risk, and Dexter isn’t doing anything to throw MM off track.
That IMO is why the producers are abandoning it for now: They want to get Dexter into a more interesting plot. It wouldn’t be the first time; remember last season how quickly they wrapped up the Santa Muerte killings? Did we ever again see that policewoman who seemed to manipulate her way into a detective slot at MM?
Coming? Yeah, cause him hallucinating ghost dad Harry all this time is indicative of a rational, sound mind.
I’ve been kind of disinterested most of this season (though faintly wondering where they’re going with the Brother Sam arc) but the appearance of Brian perks things up a bit. Seems clear to me that Dexter making the choice to kill Nick caused something to snap. I don’t think we’ll see Brian and Harry duking it out over Dexter’s “soul” or anything. (I wouldn’t mind a ghost Rita, but good lord in this context that would be awful).
I wonder if they are moving toward the endgame here. There’s no guarantee of a season 7 at this point to the best of my knowledge.
I don’t think Harry is supposed to be a hallucination (or what you’re probably thinking of, a delusion). I think it’s supposed to be his conscious, his guiding voice. WE see Harry, but I don’t think Dexter actually sees him. Dexter’s never going to ask Harry to help him carry a body, Harry could never ‘physically’ push Dexter to do something the way Olmos pushed whathisface’s foot onto the accelerator pedal to hit that couple.
Conscience you mean?
Anyway, I’m not convinced that Brian helping Dexter in the way you are suggesting is an indication that he is any different than Harry in terms of being a manifestation of some facet of Dexter. Harry represents the code, Brian the dark passenger, but either way they’re both Dexter’s delusions. You may recall from season 2 that Brian has appeared to Dexter in “ghost” form before.
Anybody else suspect that Gellar (at least the one we’re seeing) exists only in Travis’ head? I don’t recall ever seeing him alone, he’s always with Travis.
I know there’s a real Gellar (or at least there was) but I think he’s dead or left the country or something.
