He took the knife and rope with him - he was clearly hoping the ‘hit by car, dragged a bit’ would cover up the actual COD - and since the cops believe he (the skinner) jumped in front of the car, its unlikely the Coroner would do much more than “yeah, looks like it”.
Its only when they don’t know the cause of death that (at least in the shows) do the extreme autopsy.
As for Miguel’s connection to the skinner - the Skinner was killing anyone that ‘might’ have information regaurding Freebo’s where abouts - Miguel was a brother of one of Freebo’s customers… its not entirely unreasonable.
That’s right. I forgot they showed Dexter escaping with the rope. I can see the cops not bothering to investigate that death when they think they know the cause.
Miguel on the other hand I think would get more analysis and I don’t think postmortem cuts would survive the scrutiny.
As for Dexter’s DNA showing up on any forensics reports, would they actually run anything against him? It doesn’t seem likely that when they go through the database of DNA/fingerprints/blood etc etc etc they would check it against their own force, unless they had reason to suspect.
In some states any death outside a hospital requires an autopsy even if the cause is obvious like a car wreck. But in obvious cases they might do a quick autopsy rather than a detailed one.
Yes, this offended my sensibilities a little, as well, but it’s not unforgivable.
My only real “WTF!” moment in this whole third series, is when Rita responded to Dexter’s marriage proposal with, “Yes Dexter, WE will marry you.” I understand the point behind it, but would anybody really say that?
Says a lot about the overall series, that that is my biggest beef, I suppose?
