Dharun Ravi gets.... 30 DAYS? Oh. Really?

dude, read the whole fucking post. You look like an asshol when you don’t pay attention to the 'in all seriousness" part. If you are going to call me out, you should at least have the decency of a Fox News commentator and take me completely out of context. fuck man, have you never heard of dark humor or hyperbole? While we are on the subject, you just called me out on percieved wrong doing with hypocrisy. bravo. now go wipe the drool from the corner of your mouth before it gets on your keyboard, then see if they sell a sense of humor on ebay. Last thought: did I ever mention him getting raped? No. It was your sick mind that went there. My implication was that it would make him incredibly uncomfortable sharing a cell with a man who was obviously gay and had the ability to act upon his desires if he wanted to. You see, that is called a trap and you waltzed right into it.

cry me a fucking river. I was bullied from first grade till I was almost graduated from college, ergo, I guess you’ll be using my book as a reference in your academic work on bullying. Your lack of empathy has me seriously thinking of calling bullshit on you. Every person I know who was a fellow target of bullying has empathy for others who have been bullied. Maybe you’re just a sociopath. Also, you make a very immature mistake in your evaluation of the situation: not everyone is you. I for one am quite glad of this fact.

Lame.

What about for the bullies?

his commentary justifies the opinion. Call it lame if you will. As for empathy for the bullies, that is a difficult thing for someone who endured 15 years of bullying. If they are that miserable, they should find more constructive ways to raise their self esteem. After a while though, you start to realize that most bullies derive some sort of perverse pleasure from the pain they inflict. if you want lame: look in the mirror.

Yeah, you should stick to simple shit that requires no brain power. Everyone needs to feel important. I just hope that you don’t ever have any children when you grow up.

Ugh, and you’re sad and whiny too. Christ.

I am. It’s called a computer screen. All I can see is a post and the name behind it, nothing more, nothing less.

You seen Clothahump’s other posts?

?

Pete, where have I said that I don’t have empathy for him? My point - and I’ll repeat it because it appears to have sailed right over your head - is that I think he made bad decisions about what happened.

And sociopath, my ass. You’re an ignorant fuck for posting bullshit like that.

That would be the part where you said this:
And frankly, I have no sympathy for him.
So not only did you say that you don’t give a shit about the fact that this kid was treated abominably, but now you’re going back and trying to pretend you didn’t say what you did, because you don’t like the social consequences of what you said.

Fucking pathetic, under either interpretation. Either you are so screwed up that you can’t feel any sympathy for this kid – but then you lied and said you did because you were so desperate to avoid the social consequences of what you said. Or else you feel sympathy for the kid but put on an idiotic macho display of not caring because you can’t handle actually thinking about what happened to the kid.

I think he should have got more time. He should have been convicted of a hate crime, and done more jail time, in my opinion.

That said, no matter how much time he does, he has to live with his actions the rest of his life. He’s a young man, that’s a long sentence, in my opinion. His youth and bravado, some public support and empathy may get him through the start, but they won’t last. And soon enough it will just be him and his conscience, knowing his actions caused another person’s death. Time will pass, this case will fall from discussion, but every now and then, it’s going to come up. Whatever the nature of the discussion, and whether he owns it or not, he’ll know it’s him they are talking about.

Who knows what Karma has in store for him. Perhaps he’ll have a gay son, of his own, one day.

Nah, he’s just sad he got caught.

nah, your point just sailed wide of the issue. you displayed in your posts a lack of understanding of the power that a person’s emotional state can have on them and their decision making, especially when they are under the age of 25 or so (the impulse control centers of the brain aren’t fully developed till then.) You ridiculed Clementi for his choice. You implied that everyone should think and act like you in a given situation, and if they don’t, they are weak and foolish. Sorry if you don’t like it, but it’s either you’re a sociopath, or you’re petulant, naive and immature. Your choice.

In the United States (and in India too), the average person feels pride, not regret, at causing a gay person’s death.

You got a cite for that, especially for the US?

For the US, I think you are wrong on that account. Given that support for gay marriage is approaching 50%, I don’t think you would find that the average American would feel pride at causing a gay person’s death.

That said - deport the little shit. We have enough bigots home grown, I don’t need to open the doors to any extras.

What’s the benefit of continuing an appeal after you have already served your sentence?

This is a troubling attitude. It’s wrong to believe that we can fix our society by throwing people out. Ravi has lived most of his life here; he is our problem to deal with.

It would presumably expunge his record, meaning no (or fewer) consequences for things like background checks, government jobs, voting rights, etc.
