Finally a release date! This is the only pc game I’ve been waiting for for the last decade.
I heard there will not be pvp right away though.
I’m sure they’ll be adding it sooner rather than later though.
Can not wait for this!
Sucks for the Torchlight 2 peoples though. Doesn’t seme like they’ll beat Diablo 3 to market.
I was excited as hell for this game when it was announced back in - what, 2008? Unfortunately, online-only (and no pause!) is a deal-breaker for me. I would only be playing the game single-player, and it’s clearly made primarily for multiplayer.
All the press for the game insists it’s a satisfying single-player experience. Don’t give up on it just yet!
I’m pretty sure you can pause now too.
You can deifnitely pause.
And the beta has been a ton of fun.
Damn. I was hoping for the earlier rumoured date of mid April, which would have meant it would be the highlight game of my buddy and I’s GameFest 2012.
Isn’t it a bit too soon? I have been following the beta progress (though I am not in) and there seems to be lots of tweaking to go, such as (and limited to)
But the game is 100% server side. I figure that Blizzard can batch in new changes like any regular MMO.
While I hate removal of modes like this as a principle, in reality, I know that it won’t affect me. I always played on the realms in D2 because of the extra items and such, and you can just play in your own private game and pretend it’s singleplayer. The only difference will be lag/servers going down/etc.
Ohhhh, I can’t stop drooling (and I’m exclusively a single-player as well)!
Ordered.
I was a bit surprised that the release date is so soon, given the recent fairly dramatic changes to the beta. It seems like they are still doing a lot of work on game balance stuff. Then again, game balance is going to be an ongoing process, as players discover new ways to create broken combinations and the devs work to counteract that.
I think leaving PvP out of the release version is smart; it gives them time to get a lot of players into the game and mine data to see what’s broken (either overpowered or underpowered) while the competition is indirect. It’s easier to deal with jealousy than with feelings of outrage.
Diablo II PvP was really uninteresting - since so much of your power was dependent on stuff, the fact that your equipment stayed with your corpse made things really predictable once someone died. I get the feeling they’ll change that, but I’m not much of a PvP guy at heart.
I am looking forward to co-op with Dangerosa, though.
Anyone getting the collector’s edition?
It’s $100 and has a ton of goodies.
Thing is, I did that for SCII and I ended up giving away most of the stuff. same goes for the Witcher 2 collector’s box. I think I really have moved past physical things for my entertainment. So, as tempting as it is, I’ll be passing on that.
Anyone want a bust of Geralt of Rivia?
Oh great! I was afraid I’d fall victim to a government death panel before they ever got around to releasing it. I think I’ll splurge on the collector’s edition just this once, since this will likely be one of my last game purchases.
I wonder if I can reach my goal of traversing every square inch of Skyrim by May 15th.
I really don’t care if they EVER add PVP.
Wow, I haven’t bought a game on/near release in ages, but I think this might be too tempting to resist.
Any of the old D2 Doper crew from years back still around?
That’s a bleak look of the future. Everything ok?
Oh yeah, nothing dire. I made a pledge that my last 3 video game purchases would be Skyrim, Diablo 3, and Guild Wars 2, and then I’d be done. I figured by the time D3 came out I’d be getting close to Medicare and too feeble to be a convincing gamer, but Blizzard fooled me.
Odds are that I will miss out on Diablo Quattro, though, and I’m bummed.
I have a Cellular Internet connection (~.5MB down on a good day), how much of a connection hog is this game?
I wouldn’t buy Diablo 3 on fixed wireless. I don’t think it’d lead to a pleasurable experience. You’re in that group of people who is screwed. The game does sip bandwidth though. Well under 500kbits/sec. The problem is latency and ports choking.
