Diablo 3 May 15th!

I’m having some issue with the RMAH. I would really like to sell things there for real money, but it keeps telling me that I don’t have PayPal set up, but when I click the OK button to set it up, it doesn’t do anything at all. Anyone else have this problem?

Well, of course. Everything they do is with the goal of benefiting the company and making money. That’s why they make games to begin with. Programmers have to eat, too.

I’m reminded of a quote by Piers Anthony (from memory): “People sometimes accuse me of writing books just for the money. Well, yeah, that’s my job. Nobody ever accuses a plumber of fixing pipes just for the money.”

Well, of course. But did they have to make it so damn obvious? I don’t think Blizzard is strapped for cash, and I’m guessing they made more than enough money just selling the game. It’s the blatent “You can’t progress forward until you pay even MORE money, bwahahaha!” that annoys me. Diablo II was never like that. Now it’s all about money and grinding and getting more money (be it gold or RL.) If I wanted that feel, I could’ve just gotten WoW. It feels like a WoW Jr.

Woooooo. Just had an action packed few days in Diablo3. Ummm, so, yes, first up Belial. At level 48, 3K dps, 27K health, with 100ish resists, he was a pushover. At level 50 and similar stats, Azmodan was just as easy. At level 51, with also exactly the same stats, Diablo was faaar less easy. I actually had to use a potion against the shadow clones! I wouldn’t call it a nail-biter, but I had to be careful.

As a side note, the female wizard’s taunts are so fun against bosses. Right when Diablo had a sliver of life left, I emoted /die and she bursted out with “You’re going to die!” I swear Azula herself delivered the lines. Gave me goosebumps it did.

Anyway, while NM wasn’t so bad, I have a feeling Hell is going to be no joke. The bosses in Hell mode are going to require some gearing up, for sure. Hardcore 4 life! Whoooo!

So, I fixed the problem. I just had to turn on the SMS notification option on Battle.net. Now I just have to get some sucker to buy my wares.

Why use ice armor? You know that isn’t actually an armor booster right? Energy armor is the only really viable armor IMHO.

Are you using Paypal or B.Net balance? I am wondering how much you will really get if you want to cash out to Paypal, after all the fees.

This is my Hell Wizard build (using the AH liberally) - it’s not the best that is, but I am surviving. I mostly use Diamond Skin, and Frost Nova for when shit gets real, and Blizzard for crowd control. The last slot goes to Energy Armor with Pinpoint. I go for the critical hit because I slot Healing Blades, which heals 8% of damage done on a critical (after I get to level 60 I switch to Prismatic Armor) I also use Piercing Orb for ranged.

I realized that when in Nightmare and beyond, unless you have godlike gear, killing enemies as a Wizard before they reach you is futile. There are enemies that will get close to you, so you may as well go for a melee/tank build.

When grouping, I switch out the Frost Nova for Celestial Orb and take Arcane Dyanmo. This combination does impressive damage.

So, apparently this Kripp dude is attempting the world’s first HC Azmodan on Inferno right now. Even better, you can watch him do it live on his twitch stream here!

Aaaand Azmodan is Azmodown! Of course there’s no way to prove he was the absolute first, but it’s still a mighty impressive achievement.

Frozen enemies are shattered enemies.

You don’t get much. A dollar for the transaction fee, and 15% of the amount paid after that.

To me, I don’t get much back. Then again, I’m trying to sell items at low prices to even ensure that they’ll sell; I hate having good items sit in my inventory unused. Unless I stumble across something REALLY awesome, I tend to sell my rares, regardless of what they are, at $2 each. After the fees, I get $0.85 for each transaction. I’d love to go higher, but as with the gold AH I have no clue what good prices are for anything, and if anything would sell if I put it at a higher price. Even now, it seems to be slow goings. I see people trying to sell mediocre stuff at $75 or so, it just boggles my mind. Then again, maybe I’m the crazy one for selling so cheap, but I have no clue of an item’s worth anymore in that crazy world.

Well, there’s an achievement for beating each of the act bosses in hardcore Inferno, and there’s a database of all of the achievements, which would in principle be searchable for that. I don’t think Blizzard provides any way for the general public to do so, but one could probably convince a Blizzard employee to check it, especially since all of the information in it is publicly available (just not in an easily-searched form).

On the auction house tales: My level 60 Demon Hunter has a very nice amulet (it has the top four mods I would want, plus a couple other random things), and I decided the other day to check out just how nice it is. Turns out, comparable items on the Auction House start at a cool million GP. Which is very impressive, considering that it dropped in Act 1 NM and only requires level 23.

It doesn’t freeze them. It slows them and they have to hit you first.

Ice Armor slows enemies that hit you and additionally has a chance to also freeze them solid. It also has some very nice runes for it, notably a persistent slow aura and also a stacking armor buff that, combined with the slow & freeze, can make it a much stronger defense than any of the Energy Armor options.

Personally, I’m not a fan of any of the defensive passives at all. It’s a poor use of a skill slot that could be used on an active defense that will give you positional or offensive capabilities in addition to survivability. I only grudgingly started using Energy-Force because my wizard is significantly undergeared for the areas of Inferno difficulty I have her in, and Force Armor is literally the only way she can survive any hit from anything. Even the basic Fallen imp in Act 3 can one-shot her

So that they freeze in mid-air when they try to hit me.
No, I didn’t. But to nitpick, the Crystallize rune will increase the armor (by how much, and whether or not it’s better than the other rune options I’m not sure.)
I will take this under advisement.

I’ve been running Iskatu (first quest in act IV Nightmare) several times using different combos. (You have to keep in mind that this is a somewhat unique situation, where I can run back to a corner and just attack a 90 degree window of opponents: a bunch of little swarmers and one bad guy.)

Here’s what I have decided at lvl 51: Disintigrate beats the hell out of Ray of Frost. I’m using Volatility and the little guys just pop.
Diamond skin rules.
I wish I could use Frost Nova with Diamond skin, but I can’t.
I feel like if I could use Disintigrate and Diamond Skin endlessly I could beat anything.
I don’t see much difference in the other skills. They don’t affect whether or not I die in this Quest, only Diamond Skin and Disintigrate do that.
I’m using Bilzzard - Grasping Chill, but I think a Frost Hydra would be about as effective. I’m using Energy Armor - Energy Tap so I can run Disintigrate longer.

It took me a while to figure out that Ice Armor wasn’t a straight armor buff myself. Interesting about the Crystallize one.

So, it’s funny you mention Disintegrate. I used to think it was the bees knees until late hell and Inferno. After I got there I found that it didn’t kill mobs before they could get to me. So, I switched to Ray of Frost with the Passive that boosts cold damage considerably. I find that to be far superior mainly because I can cast Blizzard and hit all the mobs that make it thru with the RoF, slowing them to a crawl and melting away their HP.

I’ll have to try Ice Armor now and see how that feels. Going all Frost has to have some kind of benefit.

try Archon, it really shines in this encounter. you can solo Hell but you’ll need someone to tank in Inferno.

Why not?

Rather than go back and answer this, I started two new characters before trying my wizard again. After rejiggering the skills and dying a few more times, I finally took out Belial, and now I’m breezing through Act III (just took out the glutton, whatshisname). Also it didn’t hurt that I dropped about 100k in the AH on some better gear, doubling my damage; I can now exceed 10K dps, if I put up a buff.

Really, though, I think Belial is extra-awful for wizards.

Because they are both Defensive (Button 1) skills. (BTW, I’m still not sure what you and LHoD are referring to as “Ice Nova”. I can’t find it at all.)

I am having a lot of trouble with NM Diablo. I am a lvl 53 wizard. [Should I be in Hell at lvl 53 or am I underachieving?]
I have ~24k life, do 2.4k damage, and have 2.4k armor after I turn on Energy Armor - Energy Tap. I’m using
1.) Diamond Skin - Enduring Skin.
2.) Blizzard - Grasping Chill
3.) Energy Armor - Energy Tap
4.) Exlploive Blast - Obliterate
LB.) Electrocute - Chain Lightning
RB.) Disintegrate - Convergence

I suspect that my problem is that I’ve focused too much on Vitality and not enough on defense with my gear; because a resplendent potion only gives me about 1/4 of my life back. I’'m pretty sure I could beat him in about 15 minutes if I had 4 full rejuvs. But I simply run out of life eventually. Health orbs don’t show up in this fight very often, or I’d be OK.

Any suggestions?
