Dial soap safe for cats?

Occasionally one of my cats will get an abrasion or scratch, and was wondering if it was safe to wash the wound with Dial soap. Anyone know?

Maybe you need to explain what it is you fear. Is it soap in general or just the brand Dial? What kind of “unsafeness” are you worried about? Have you read or heard something somewhere?

FWIW I see no problem with using soap, but I would have thought a topical disinfectant (Dettol being the local standard) would be a better choice.

Sorry, I mean might it leave a residue (since it’s “antibacterial”), even if it’s rinsed off, that would be poisonous to a cat if they lick the area afterward?

We have a couple cats that show up with a variety of scratches and wounds, my wife just rinses the wound with peroxide a couple of times and the cats seem to heal up just fine.

Not poisonous per se, but they are ingesting an unregulated dose of antibacterial which can’t be a good thing and may upset their digestive system. So I’d say definitely “no”, given the new info that it’s antibacterial soap.
