Does anybody know of a nice, big dictionary for Palm (actually Handspring Visor), that gives word pronunciations as well as definitions?
Um, how big is your Visor?
I don’t think you’re likely to find a good (say, college-level) dictionary - takes up too much space.
The lightest (smallest) dictionary for Palm I’ve ever seen was 1.5mb and I doubt it was very complete. I only have a Palm IIe (2mb of memory) so I didn’t even download it to check it out.
As Bup said, I doubt you’ll find a really good dictionary for the Palm. Each ASCII charater is one byte, 1024 bytes = 1 kilobyte, 1024 kb = 1 megabyte. Dictionaries have a lot of letters in them…
Well, with a Handspring, you’re not necessarily limited to software dictionaries with onboard memory … Here is a Springboard module for a Merriam-Webster dictionary, but it’s not clear if pronunciations are included.
