I don’t think it happened on The Dating Game, but the UK version, Blind Date, led to at least three marriages.
I worked on the Dating Game and Newlywed Game 1969-1970. At that time the staff was not aware of any couples from the Dating Game getting married. There were two or three people who were on Newlyweds who later appeared on Dating Game.
I remember back in the late 60’s, one couple on the Dating Game won a free trip - to my tiny hometown in Illinois for a parade/festival they had once a year. I remember thinking, “Boy, talk about a crappy first prize!”
Sure enough, the “lucky couple” showed up and got a decent reception of applause as they rode the float in the parade - but she was drop dead gorgeous and he was a pudgy nerd, and you could tell they had barely spoken with one another, let alone discuss marriage.
Wait a second, Newlywed Game then Dating Game? Did they get divorced between, or was this a case of the TV show using actors who weren’t necessarily actually married/dating?
They were divorced.
