Did anyone else see Anthony Bourdain eat the pigs anus?

If this is a repeat episode, please slam me thoroughly. If not- he was in Nambia, and this was the first show I’ve seen where he was truly disgusted by something he ate. In the past he has eaten bat, king cobra, drank king cobra bile, etc. but a pig’s anus (uncleaned) was too much for him. I see the difference though- in the past he has eaten food prepared by poor people, albeit edible food, cooked, seasoned, etc. The Namibians were three steps beyond poor- eating ostrich eggs cooked in the dirt, mixed with sticks, leavings, etc. And the pig was eaten thoroughly raw, except for the head, which was cooked in the ground, covered in dirt, sticks, leavings, etc. No seasoning or braising. Interesting show.

Nambia is obviously Namibia, although NAMBLA also came to mind when I read the header.

For the confused, Anthony Bourdain was the one doing the eating.

“Chewy.”

Heh.

That whole show was disgusting. I really felt for poor ol’ Anthony, especially considering how enamoured he was by Ghana. All Africa ain’t the same, baby!

So do y’all think the bushmen really eat pig anus, or is that a “let’s just do it to gross out the white guy” kind of thing?

I did think that segment of the show was immeasurably cool. It was like a little window into how humans lived for tens of thousands of years.
