It’s Professor Sir Ludwig Guttmann, a german physician who advocated for the disabled and helped start the Paralympic games.
Sure looks like the Captain to me in that drawing, though.

Keeshan has a squarer face and wider mustache. I wouldn’t have thought of the Captain at all.
I just assumed it was a less than ideal drawing of the Captain
First , let me apologize for contradicting The Great and Powerful Qadgop. It was but a moment of hubris I will not repeat. < grovels >

The background figures would also indicate it wasn’t The Captain.
I was thinking more like Col. Sanders. In a dark stilt.
Hey, for all I knew, the Captain supported the Special Olympics too. He was a man of many causes.
Gotta have that tiny goatee to be the Colonel!
Yup, Col. Sanders. But no goatee. Then I figured it had to be some one that dealt with the disabled.
Another vote for the Colonel rather than the Captain. Even though it was merely a resemblance rather than a “that’s gotta be him!” moment.
No, Captain Kangaroo has a very distinctive red jacket. And no glasses. And bangs.
Yup. It’s missing Mr. Moose, Bunny Rabbit, and Mr. Green Jeans. And the Ping-Pong balls.
Oh yeah, and Dancing Bear.
He has a new gig at bachelorette parties.
My wife told me last night that he looks like “KFC Grandpa” (as Koreans call Colonel Sanders).
I didn’t think the drawing actually was Captain Kangaroo. The resemblance wasn’t that striking. But when I first saw it, I said “Who’s this guy? Looks like Captain Kangaroo.”
At last! Validation!!
I thought it was Walter Cronkite…
I’m thankful fir this thread. I had no idea who that was as when I clicked on the banner all I got was a blank page. Did that happen to anyone else?
