The writer befriends this old-school mercenary named Nick Du Toit, who wants to stage a bloody takeover of a small African country for fun and because it might land him control of a multi-billion dollar copper mine. The writer is perfectly ok with this. Some years later, Nick gets arrested in the late stages of planning a similar takeover of Equitorial Guinea. The author makes it his mission to free Nick, but Nick doesn’t want to be freed because (???). Later, the author changes him mind and says he “hopes the truth will never set him free” because (???). The article ends here.
