Did Charles Schulz know about the PP-Marcie UL?

For those who don’t know: lots of fans (jokingly) speculate they were a couple. What was “Sparky’s” opinion on the matter?

He drew them. Gave them voices. Why not?

Rather doubt his intention was Schoolgirl Lesbians. (lucky for you I didn’t do a TvTropes Link)

Here’s an account of Sparky’s real character from here:

He was no innocent.

If you want it it TVTropes terms, I think they were Heterosexual Life Partners.

Also, remember that Peppermint Patty has a crush on Charlie Brown, not on Marcie. Unrequited love does not a couple make.

Patty had a crush on Chuck, but Marcie also had a crush on Charles. It’s a love triangle.

But he was at the berginning of his career. In Backstage at the Strips, Mort Walker reprints a “Believe it or Not” cartoon to which a young Sparky contributed. It was a drawing of a dog that “ate nails and screws”. Innocent li’l Sparky didn’t see the problem with that caption.

The earliest Patty in Peanuts wished she were a boy. That along with Marcie calling her sir makes me think PP is FTM.

It would take a real blockhead to mess up a ready-made threesome like that!

  • Sigh *, what could have been…AAAAUUUUUUGGGGGGGHHH!

Yep. Or a baby butch.

Anyone else remember the Charlotte Braun affair? Mr. Voorhees would be proud.

Who is “Sparky”?

A nickname given to Schulz as a child by his uncle. He used it his whole life.

I guess I’m innocent because I don’t see the problem with that caption. Can you explain?

Think “Eats Shoots and Leaves.”

As a young kid I always thought PP was a boy, it always confused me when she try to kiss CB.

ate (nails and screws) vs (ate nails) and screws

Charles is in hopeless love with the Little RedHeaded Girl. It’s a quadrangle. Maybe a tetrahedron.

Pig Pen was dating Marcie? When did that happen?

BTW: tanstaafl and TruCelt have it straight.
