He wasn’t particularly religious. I think people were a bit wary of Carter and his Baptist demeanor. Insulting? Maybe.

Adding to that, I think a lot more of our conversation is written these days, be it Twitter or Facebook or texting, etc. A lot of nicknames parse a lot better when written than if you tried to drop “tRump” or “Obummer” into a spoken conversation.
Who I will cherish forever for the best buttons and slogans EVER! From the basic “WE LIKE OUR DICK” and “THEY CAN’T LICK OUR DICK” to the ever popular “Don’t change Dicks in the middle of a screw - vote for Nixon in 72”. One of my most valued possessions is my original “Beat Nixon’s nose into a plowshare” button.
