This is a straight question. (so please don’t dump this in GD or the Pit immediately) I am not making a political statement. I am not trying to dump on Bush. I don’t respect the man, but I cannot believe he said this. I was talking to a fellow, and he said this about Bush, and I don’t have enough information to debunk him.
He said while Bush was governor of Texas just before he went to Isreal, he told someone (alledgedly a reporter), “Do you know what I’m gonna to tell all those Jews over there. I’m gonna to tell them they’re all goin’ to hell.”
He also said that Bush’s grandfather, Prescott (Prescot?) Bush tried to overthrow FDR and supported the Nazis. This I put down to just misreading history.
For the first, that quote was alleged by Wayne Slater a reporter at the Dallas Morning News (cite)
(scroll down to the question that starts “Let’s talk about the couple of times he got in trouble as governor…”)
Slater claims it was made in jest to a Jewish reporter.
