Did Geraldo actually do this really stupid thing?

Why is this man still in the news?

Certainly. And you can stick your insinuation where the sun shineth not. And the horse upon in which you rode.

Piffle. No one is going to tell Geraldo Rivera anything of any significance whatsoever. If he made a concious decision to spill his guts directly to Iraqi Intelligence and tell him every single scintilla of a detail…he would tell them exaclty D for diddly-squat.

Podkayne said it better, and was funny to boot. I withdraw my post and claim his. Hers. Its. Whatever.

You seem to be missing the point. He gave away his unit’s position to the enemy. I repeat–he told the whole world, “Hey, this is where our unit is, so if you want to attack us or block our advance, this is the place to do it.” Do you not get that? Jesus, have you never heard of OPSEC?

Don’t worry, Biggirl.

Geraldo is no black mark against Puerto Ricans.

All of humanity must share the shame.

Hey, Lucy, what’s your cite for Geraldo not having any sensitive information regarding troop positions?

Note that a cite doesn’t include “I don’t like the war, so I can say whatever I want!”

Well, I doubt his line in the sand thing actually endangered the troops, but it does illustrate the fact that some media personalities are getting a bit too gung fucking ho about the war, and somehow think they are contributing to the fucking mission.

At least with Geraldo, you can level “giving improper information charges”. As for Peter Arnett, all he did was not toe the line. I bet if he went on Iraqi TV and said, “Saddam should consider himself lucky to be alive, if he still is. Surrender, Iraqis. The Americans will feed you and start rebuilding your country”, no one would have cared.

Although I will fault Arnett for his “Iraqis treat journalists well” remark. One, sure they treat most of them well, because it makes America look like a bully. And two, there’s been journalists killed already and others are missing.

Arnett did the same shit in GW 1.0, he fucking knows if even he gets/got sacked, he has Oprah, the book, and notoriety…he is a media whore, and as an insider, he gives clueless morons the impression he actually knows what he is talking about…

From that link:

Woody Allen is JEWISH?! He hid it so well, I never knew.

Oh, and December, let me just say, I’m really loving that site. Thanks.

Ha ha hah ha… maybe his unit is lying to him. I mean after all he is a donkey!!!

… ‘here’ ‘here’ we are human and must share the shame… I can’t say I’d deny that!!

Arnett should have never been hired for another job in journalism for his involvement in the CNN/Tailwind mess. NBC and National Geographic Explorer deserve any monkey shit thrown their way for hiring that camera whore.

From what I understand there are clearly laid out rules for embedded reporters. If Geraldo violated those rules in anyway, he needs to be sent packing. The lives of soldiers are on the line, and reporters don’t have the right to endanger those lives for the sake of cheap dramatics on camera. If Geraldo is so eager to be near the action (or say he is), he doesn’t have to be attached to a particular unit. Of course he gives up the protection being with that unit provides, but still that risk shouldn’t bother such a brave and enterprising correspondent like himself.

Personally, I hope some pilot mistakes him for Saddam making a run for it (the moustache, y’know) and vaporizes him.

CNN has a picture of the incident, and also explains that in addition to pinpointing their current location, he told everyone where they were headed to next. Yeesh.

Well, Letterman confirmed the Geraldo story in his monologue, so it must be true.

Also, CNN staffers are playing with Slinky toys to relieve the stress of 24-hour war coverage.

And people say television is devoid of intellectual content!

p.s. Personal and confidential to december: check your e-mail!!

I won’t believe it until I hear LENO mention it! He’s FAR more reliable than Letterman!

[/joking]

Geraldo should be embedded…six feet deep in the sand. That lying bastard is should be indicted for impersonating a journalist.

Did Geraldo really give anything away that wasn’t available in the newspaper?

I find it difficult to be believe that the Iraqis don’t alrady know where the soldiers are. They’ve probably got a pretty good idea where they’re gonna be later, too. After all, they have cable.

I just saw Geraldo do a report from Iraq on FoxNews’s morning show. He’s not going anywhere, he says. He says that the General that is in charge of deciding whether he goes or stays says that Geraldo gets to stay until the end. Geraldo said that the whole thing was way overblown.

That’s what I just saw on FoxNews, anyway.
