Did Google have a brief hiccup around 6:35 pm (pacific time) today (Mon.)?

For about a minute, I tried three different searches, all resulting in a page that basically said “500 error”.
Never happened before, and just hoping it wasn’t The Singularity, whatever that’s supposed to be.

Happened to me in Vancouver,BC, too

It was still going on 10 minutes later.

It’s 6:53pm as I type from Sacramento, CA. DH had problems with Google Maps about 10 minutes ago, reported it working while I was typing.

Missouri - I had a short blip where my browser reported that Google was Not Secure but otherwise everything’s been fine.

I had trouble too, but when I reloaded my search, it went through.

I have personally never really wondered what Sonic’s feet look like.

This happened about two hours after The News broke. Maybe its servers were overwhelmed? Anything’s possible.

Sounds like perhaps an electrical accident at a data center

Three electricians were critically injured and transported to a local hospital after an “electrical incident” at a Google data center in Council Bluffs, Iowa, according to the Council Bluffs Police Department and Google.

[…] Three electricians were working on a substation close to the data center buildings when an arc flash (an electric explosion) occurred, causing significant burns to all three electricians.

I had issues with Google Maps around that time too. It kept piping up saying “Head north on 880 North!” which I had been doing for 20 minutes.

I got a 404 on a search, and on reloading it. The third time (around a minute later) the search went through.

I’ve had issues where I couldn’t reach Google for a little bit, but never a 404, which means that I reached the site but it couldn’t find the page. That was what seemed particularly odd.

Software update was the cause.

In Pennsylvania, I have had Internet problems most of Thursday. The TV shut off, no SDMB. It was quite disorienting. I went to the garage as the mechanic had finished with my car. He reported the same symptoms.

Probably just the machines shutting down communications in preparation for Judgement Day.
