Did Herman Cain on Meet the Press help or hinder Herman Cain?

Wait. What was he before age 10? Considering how much ink has been wasted over Obama being a “secret Muslim”, is this something the Right would have a problem with?

Yo dawg, I heard you like jokes! So I made a joke of a joke and put it on your joke!

…So you can laugh with a candidate while you laugh at a candidate.

After it was pointed out that the 9-9-9 plan would raise taxes for the vast majority of people, Cain “clarified” that if you’re below the poverty line, you wouldn’t pay any federal income tax under his plan. The problem with this, of course, is that the Republican base right now is in love with the idea that even people who don’t have a lot of income should pay income tax because… well, essentially because poor people who pay no income tax (after credits) are the new welfare queens. The whole appeal of his proposal was that it applied to everybody. It was obvious from the beginning that 9-9-9 couldn’t stand up to scrutiny, but Cain now seems to be screwing up on abortion and taxes at the same time. This is one of those reasons it’s hard for political newbies to succeed on the big stage. Still, I imagine he’ll find that from a financial standpoint, running for president was a good investment.

Damn, can’t find the article now.

Story asking why Cain was ignoring Iowa, to his peril.

In the story they mention that he’ll be there this weekend, or next week or sometime soon, and that he’s been there a large number of times. But of course, the facts don’t get in the way of the story that he’s ignoring Iowa!

He is promoting the Cain brand and selling books. He must know he is as qualified as Palin. But he might be shooting for a Fox spot, TV show or commentator. President Cain is a bad joke. He barely tries in the debates. He avoids the questions and responds with a sound bite.

All of them as far as I know.

Most have publicly supported the person-hood amendment. Which not only would ban women from getting an abortion regardless of the health consequences, it would outlaw the most popular forms of birth control.

And sadly (I weep for America over this);

IT IS WORKING! His poll numbers are going up!

I mean seriously, can you imagine if someone like Obama, Bush, McCain, Romney et al were to act like this? They’d be chewed up and spit out by the media and their own party.

Romney is prototypical political candidate. He looks like he was cast for the role. But it seems Americans don’t trust those people anymore. They have been destroying the country while enriching themselves for generations. In the back of your mind, you think how would anything get better if he got in.
So we look for alternatives. Obama did not look like previous presidents. We tried him. Cain is different, but his goofiness will destroy him. Most of the Repub candidates are terribly flawed or goofy. They are not serious alternatives. Palin, Bachman, Paul, Perry, and the others just wont fly.
So where does a Repub that wants change turn to? All that’s left is Cain. he is a terrible choice but maybe all they have.

He’s not viable. He’d get shredded in a real election.

No, the Republicans are setting fire to their own house in order to cook and eat their own.

The ultraconservatives and the batshit crazy have seen their opportunity to take over and are making a good attempt at it, but ultimately their extremism isn’t going to be able to run this country.
