Did I really see this on Letterman?

Granted, my memories of those college summers I spent in Georgetown with my friends are a bit hazy, but I swear that one night my friend and I saw this on Letterman.

It was Summer 1995. The guest was a guy who painted pictures of gorillas doing modern-day things, kind of like those dogs playing poker. Letterman asked the guy jokingly if he actually had gorillas come in and pose for the paintings. The guy replied, “Yeah right . . . we actually have a short black woman come in and do it.” Or something to that extent.

I know it happened. I can’t find anything on the Internet about it. I can’t believe such a thing could be on TV and not be more well publicized.
