Editorial comment: Personally I think that the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey should be given a painful enema. There is no reason for this kind of stuff to happen yet it is all too common. What? You can’t have surveillance cameras in the luggage handling areas?

The article’s not very clear to me.
It says the guns were put on the flight to Washington from JFK, but almost immediately says they were possibly stolen at JFK.
Anyway, a piece of luggage with guns, etc. in it went missing, was found in LA and returned without being checked. Were the guns missing when it was finally opened, or is the luggage going missing for a day the story?

My immediate concern is that a lot of theft goes on at JFK and little is done about it. I refuse to believe that the problem can’t be cleaned up. This particular incident seems to be particularly egregious. Yet, despite the fact that the victims were top security agents for one of the US’s closest allies the story seems to have disappeared. What the SD?
