Out of legal curiosity, surely using US forces to raid a US facility abroad runs afoul of some law? I know Posse Comitatus prevents US forces from doing things on American soil, but even abroad you can’t for instance order the Air Force to launch an airstrike on Marines, that’s got to be some sort of manslaughter or homicide…?
Competent how? It’s not like Rudy Giuliani launched an attack on Al Qaeda. The federal government handled all that.
The main job that needed to be done in NYC was disaster relief. That was handled by the fire department, medical people, and the police. These were all people doing their jobs. Giuliani didn’t have to take charge of the response.
Yes, Giuliani did a good job rallying people in the aftermath of a major disaster. And that’s an important part of his job. But as I said above, that’s generally a given. Trump has been a rare exception in failing to do this.
As I recall, the main policy that Giuliani pursued in the aftermath of 9/11 was floating the idea of having a law enacted extending his current term of office for three additional months and repealing the term limits which were preventing him from running again.
He certainly doesn’t know that, but he’s also heard people saying this about him, so it’s not a stretch to see him add it to the list of complaints about Biden. Basically, “I’m incoherent? YOU’RE incoherent!”
If the Marines were in open mutiny, it would certainly be legal, if perhaps unadvisable. I suspect the people pushing this nonsense think the CIA et al. are openly mutinous at this point.
This is the consequence of being a sociopath completely lacking in empathy. When you are literally incapable of understanding or internally modeling another person’s mind, every accusation you make against your enemies will inevitably be a confession of your own acts and thoughts. (More and more, this is applicable to basically everything said by every Republican about their opposition. But it’s particularly true of Trump.)
Regarding the original story up top: Considering the incompetence that led to a press conference in the parking lot of a suggestively-named landscaper, I am very surprised to learn that Frankfurt hosts a franchise of the Culinary Institute of America.
