Did they really think people wouldn't confuse these arenas?

Last summer, the Cumberland County Civic Center changed its name to the Cross Insurance Arena. http://www.crossarenaportland.com/
In Bangor, about two hours away is the Cross Insurance Center. http://www.crossinsurancecenter.com/page/958/home
I have heard of bands that were only doing one show in Maine accidentally telling their fans to go to the wrong city. Did anyone think this through at all? Or is Cross Insurance taking over the world one hockey stadium at a time?

Seems confusing to me.

Clearly, a cross attendees will have to bear.

During the last year or two before being demolished naming rights for the Metrodome in Minneapolis went to the Mall of America.
It was known as Mall of America Field.
However, the actual Mall of America is located about 11 miles south of the downtown area where the dome was located.

I wonder how many visitors who came for events at the Mall of America Field thought they could get a hotel by the mall and just walk to the dome?

Criss Cross!

There must be a word that expresses how those fans felt when they showed up at the wrong venue.

Peeved?

Mainely, yeah.

For awhile, the Albany area had two facilities known as the Knickerbocker Arena. There was little confusion, though: one was a major sports/concert venue; the other a youth hockey rink.

Their diabolical plan is working. Up until I read this thread, I had never heard of Cross Insurance. But now they have managed to get a lot of local news coverage about the stadium mix up that prominently features their name and the news has spread to an international audience via the <trumpet blast> SDMB. Everyone is now talking about Cross Insurance!

Clearly, both Cumberland County and Bangor should rename their facilities Municipal Auditorium. Or Memorial Coliseum.
