Did We Really Go To the Moon? Think about it

I was having this conversation with my cousin and my wife while we lounging on the patio. He said he saw some show that said that the pictures of the rocks had shadows on them that would not have been the way it should have been on the moon(like it was done on a set). Also he said the show said that there is a radiation belt that we could not have gone through(with the tech of that time) without dying some horrible death. This is one of the reasons the Russians havn’t ever attempted it.

The more I thought about it the more intriguing it was. It would be the perfect govt cover up. Hech it would have to be or we would never trust the govt again. I know this was a movie a while back “Capricorn 1” but lets take a look it for fun shall we to see if my cousin has got a point.

We were in a space race with Russia back then. You see you gotta hype the general public with some sorta of competition (because America loves to compete and win)so you can really gouge’em with taxes for space exploration. Did it really matter a rat’s crud who got there first no I don’t think so but boy we can’t let no ruskies beat us to the moon no matter what it cost right?

So after a while NASA figured out they couldn’t do it because the technology just wasn’t there. But they couldn’t let the space program fail there was just to much money at stake for the govt and the different space contractors. So they rig it just like they did on capricorn 1 except they make a deal with Armstrong that he can never break.

This could be a total bs post. But what the heck how do you know we really went to the moon for sure? Could it have been a big conspiracy of maybe just one of the big contractors maybe the govt doesn’t even know? I mean why haven’t we went to the moon with the high dollar shuttle? That should be a walk in the park for that piece of machinery.

Anyway flame away or think about it. Maybe we were decieved. Btw sorry about being gone so long got my computer got ripped off by a crack head. I’ll do another post and tell ya what happened on the IMHO forum.

How do we know? The same way we know anything: Reason, logic, and evidence.

In short, Bill: 1) Don’t believe anything on FOX and 2) don’t believe anything that comes from FOX second-hand.

This topic has been covered multple times so use your search function. All the arguments made in the Fox special have been addressed.

A faked moon mission might fool the viewers of Fox but has it occured that the CCCP would be tracking our mission too and listening to the transmissions sent back. Kind of hard to fake that without actually sending something up.

here ya go Bill. this thread has links to all the other threads where each and every single point made in the Fox shows are dealt with.

Second time of recent note that I’ve opined “don’t get your info from ‘real’ tv”

Let me see if I have this straight:

You believe, without any doubt whatsoever, that there is an invisible Man who lives in the sky who determines your eternal fate and who likes it if you sing songs to him on the weekends. And for this you have essentially no evidence.

But you don’t believe that we sent men to the moon and returned them safely to earth, despite the fact that you can walk right up to some of the men who did this and shake their hand and go visit moon rocks all over the United States? Despite the thousands and thousands of still-living people who worked on the project and/or saw the Saturn Vs lift off?

Dude. You have seriously got to rethink your life.

Huh?

Psst…he means God.

“Huh” what, Lib? Looks like English to me . . . **

A rephrasing (please correct me if I misrepresent you, Manny): Bill** believes in a severely limited God, and without evidence; in the face of contradictory exidence, in fact. Why then, if he can believe in his finite and specific version of God based on nothing but a book, would he reject a human achievement that actually has supporting evidence?

Listen I didn’t say I didn’t believe we went to the moon. I just thought it could be interesting conversation to discuss a conspiracy. I did screw up by not checking the archives and making sure it hasn’t been done before though. Sorry.

Anyway, nevermind. I will read the archives for the facts on it.

Ya’ll can go back to argueing about other things.

Wildest Bill should have checked the archive but the question is legitimate if he had no other information to go on besided the Fox special.

Still, bashing people of faith because they ask a for evedence of things in the physical world. I think you owe Wildest Bill an apology if not all the theists of SDMB.

Besides, God likes singing any time, not just weekends.

My next great debate: Does Wildest Bill exist?

Who bashed “people of faith?” I see one person, Manny, criticising one other person, Bill, for a seeming inconsistency.

Oh, pshaw. No one has “no other information to go on besides the Fox special.” That’s kind of my point. Because of the recent availability of real-time mass media and because of the propaganda (and real) importance of the event, I would aver that the moon landing is among the most extensively documented events in the history of the world.

I stand by my assertion that a person who would, on the basis of one TV show, seriously question the evidence of a moon landing, while at the same time taking on faith in a single book the existence of a world-flooding, fossil-burying invisible man and his divine yet corporeal son should re-evaluate his or her relationship with reality.

I ain’t going to apologize for that.

manhattan, for the umpteenth time this century, you’re my hero.

Esprix

Of course no one from here has landed on the moon yet – only a few earthmen did that starting in 1969.

Um … so, Muffin, what planet are you trying to say you’re on right now?

That presumes that all Christians are fundies who take the Genesis creation and flood stories literally. Those folks are an extremely slim minority on SDMB. Some of us even believe in evolution.

Ah dang it! Kind moderator (I hate groveling) could you take out the “Originally posted by Padeye” in my last post?

[singing (with apologies to John Lennon)]Instant Karma’s gonna get me…[/singing] ROFL

No, but Padeye, if you’ve been paying attention, Bill IS one of those who believes in Fundy type things…he calls evolution “Monkey science”, for example. But, he questions whether or not we went to the moon, or whether or not steroids are dangerous, etc etc.

Bill is the kind who takes the Bible literally.
