I’m not a photography connoisseur or anything close, but there’s some good stuff. (And some that I thought was meh)
Link spoilered because there are nudes.

Yes, particularly a book of photographs of nude women concerning the female side of G-d.
I understand he likes 'em on the big side…
And your understanding of art is…what?
While there is good black-and-white, high contrast photography, it does not follow that all black-and-white high contrast photography is good.
Leonard Nimoy is not a good photographer; random stumbling bums pulled off the street will be able to produce photographs of that quality, after ten minutes of basic instruction. (By which I mean to say, “These are really terrible photographs, of the sort that you’d really have to work at to fall behind.”)
Art who?
You know, the guy who did the thing. That Art.

this reminds me of a joke I once heard…
Q: How many guitar players does it take to screw in a light bulb?
A: Ten. One to do it, and nine more to say how much it sucked and how much better they could have done it.
…the ideal amount for a man of my age and income.
Actually, I’ve seen that exibit a few times. I live a 10 minute walk from that gallery, and stop by fairly frequently. On an unrelated note, that whole thing about art museums being a great place to meet women? Lies and slander.
Honestly, I wasn’t that impressed. Most of his work is competent, but not exceptional. Some of his subject matter is exceptional (the athletic black model in the Black & White set in particular has a wonderfully dramatic face and body) but the shots themselves aren’t better set up than I’d expect from a senor-level art student or a higher-end Flickr page.
The “Full Body” series, on the other hand, I thought was pretty close to terrible. Those kind of ‘frolicking’ poses almost always look overly posed and unnatural. When the whole point of the affair was to show full-bodied women who are comfortable with themselves, that is NOT what you want to go with. Or, maybe the lack of personality in those other shots was meant to be a criticism of the way modeling blanks out the personalities of the women involved? If so, duplicating it with heavier women doesn’t seem to achieve the goal. Though I do like that one with the short haired woman with the long neck glaring at the camera.
On the plus side, that set was displayed in their coolest exhibit space. The building used to be a bank, and they were all set up in the old walk-in vault. (The back of the vault door is glass, and it’s almost embarrassing to admit how interesting I found all the clockwork inside)

Larry Mudd is right to a point. I once almost suggested that all collage level art courses should include a warning during the first week that high contrast black-and-white nudity does not in and of itself raise the artistic value of your artwork. Then I realized that that I was a CS major, and that course of action would reduce the amount of art-major nudity available to me to something approaching zero. Flickr still being years in the future, I held my tongue.
“Let’s get Spock to shoot some naked fat chicks; there’s enough weirdos out there to make this pay”.
It’s the Art World’s version of the George Forman Grill.
I *want *the paper hair and super-freaky Gaga-alien eyebrows of his “white” model in the “Black and White Series”. That is awesome. Although, having said that, the body-painting itself could be a little better. It’s a bit patchy in places, and that’s distracting. Also, if you’re going to give your model freaky alien eyebrows, it works better if you actually use wax or something to block out her *real *eyebrows totally, instead of just painting over them and then putting the alien ones in a different place - unless that’s what he was going for…
As far as the Full Body Project - more power to him and them. I have enough body-confidence issues that I would have to be so high I was dead before I could wander around letting people take nude pictures of me, and I actually DO match society’s current type preference. I’m not qualified to judge anyone’s photography by quality, but that project itself is a good thing, and I’m glad he got a chance to do it, and I hope it brings good things to those women.
Leondard Nimoy was behind me at security in the Vancouver airport about 2 years ago. That prompted me to check out what he’s doing.
Basically, he sells autographs via his “art” nude photography. It’s a good business model. He’s not selling autographers per say, but as an artist he does autograph his work and you can proudly hang it on your wall. And there are worse things to do in life than be 70 years old or whatever he is and taking pictures of nekkid women for a living.
