Did you know the latest plan to fix the leaning tower of Pisa is to take out the bells and put in a clock.

Q: Why a clock?

A: Because it’s no use having the inclination if you haven’t got the time.

Now that was indeed a pointless post, but it wasn’t mundane. It was stupid.

You’re going to knock a fan quoting Cecil?

go no go - don’t let him steal your fun.

Welcome aboard!

Welcome indeed. Great quote. And people wonder why we worship the guy (entity?)

and knowing something about it, there is some “truth” behind this, as the bells will likely not be rung again. The bells in the tower are reportedly very heavy, and allegedly caused the lean to really pick up when they were installed as the last part of construction. Also, they noticed that ringing the bells was causing cracks to form, and pieces of marble to shift and spall.

If you’ve never actually been to the tower, let me share something with you all - it is very dramatic looking IRL. It is a rather large building, that appears to be leaning a lot more than you expect from seeing it on TV. It looks like it’s in immediate danger of collapse, and is quite breathtaking.

BUT, if you go to Pisa, make it a very short stay. There isn’t another damn thing to see in that entire town other than the Tower and Cathedral, and hotel accomodations and food are very “European”.
