Did you know "The Outer Limits" had nudity? (90's tv series)

Because I sure didn’t.

I was bored earlier today and decided to watch a few episodes of “TOL” on Amazon Prime. My jaw hit the floor as I was watching the second episode of the series wherein one scene, a lady completely disrobes.
Back in the 90’s I’ve always thought of this show as a family friendly show. Lol.
Anyway, am I the only one who didn’t know this? FTR: I don’t think it’s a big deal or anything. It just took me by surprise is all.

Not only did it have nudity, it had mid-nineties Alyssa Milano nudity.

This, at the time, teenage boy was very appreciative.

I didn’t know, but as the 1990s reboot of the series started out on Showtime, I’m not surprised at the least.

(For that matter, Stargate: SG-1 started out on Showtime in that same era, and took advantage of that fact to have at least one scene, in the opening episode, with a naked woman.)

That was the only nude scene for SG1.

I knew that but never saw any of the unedited episodes. Did most of them have an easily edited out nude scene or just a handful?

My understanding is the show originally came out in syndication. One of the channels they sold to was Showtime. So when they were shooting, the producers kept in mind one version would go to Showtime, while the others were fanned out to the regular stations.

I have no idea if that’s true or not (Don’t know the source). But it makes sense to me. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen every episode two or more times. I don’t remember ever thinking: “That was a weird cut”.

Based on reading the Wikipedia article on the show, it sounds like The Outer Limits worked a lot like how SG-1 worked at that time – the first run of the episodes was on Showtime, and each season of the series was then released to syndication a year later.

Since it looks like that arrangement was a known quantity from the start, I wouldn’t be surprised if they shot two versions of scenes when needed (the Wikipedia article notes use of adult language as well as nudity).
