Did you know you could get wrist splints, just like shin splints?

I didn’t. Earlier tonight I punched my son in the head about a dozen times. Each time I knocked him down, but he kept getting up. I was proud of that, he’s a tough kid. Now my wrist hurts, and it’s exactly the same kind of pain I get in my shins when I walk or run too much. Has anyone else experienced this?

That Wii is a pretty good workout, huh?

You run on your son’s head too?

Dave and older son attend a Martial arts class. It was our son’s fourteenth birthday, and the first time anyone at martial arts has been allowed to spar with him like that. They haven’t been in awhile, so it was the first time Dave has punched anything sine before they broke for the holidays.

It could just be that you’ve lost a bit of tone in the muscles over the holidays, and they’re sore from being worked hard again. In my experience, though, wrist pain after punching (whether a person or a heavy bag) can also mean that you weren’t holding your wrist straight enough. Pay careful attention to your form next time you start punching to make sure you haven’t gotten sloppy.
